ALBANY -- A decorated State University of New York police officer who was appointed as the first female investigator in the department's ranks has been arrested with her husband on federal marijuana manufacturing charges.
Wendy Knoebel, 48, of Duanesburg, Schenectady County, was arrested Wednesday by federal agents on charges alleging she and her husband, Kenneth, were growing approximately 100 marijuana plants inside a pole barn at their Suits Road property. Knoebel is an investigator at the University at Albany campus.
Knoebel's law enforcement career began in 1991, serving as an officer at SUNY New Paltz. Two years later, she moved to Collierville, Tenn., where she worked as an officer before transferring to UAlbany in 1995. Knoebel was promoted from police officer to investigator in 1997. She is currently the only woman investigator in the Department. University Police Department

In 2002, Knoebel received the Lawrence E. Gall Award, awarded to officers exhibiting excellence in police services to the UAlbany community. She is among seven other women in UPD, which is the most at one time in the Department's history.

Knoebel said she her job satisfaction is one of the reasons she hasn't pursued her original career path in environmental conservation. Back in the day, Knoebel had wanted to be a park ranger.
Now, she has no desire to leave the field of law enforcement. She's enjoying it too much.

Like I said in a state "where it is 'legal' it is certainly a good possible source of supplemental 'income' " I wouldn't think a good ignorant conservative would encourage anyone to break the law.
