Part of a NOT NEWS...... but instead a cheerleading article from the gazette. The article basically says that union college kids 'love' schenectady!!! Just ask Morris and the gazette!!
Quoted Text
Even at night, when Schenectady police sirens are a familiar sound, Union students said they feel comfortable walking downtown or back to campus. “Usually we’re just going down in groups,” Major said. “We always walk in big groups, like when we come back at night.”
Students don’t think these large groups are specific to Schenectady, but rather a product of a city environment. Mandart added that most students want to do things with friends, so it is reasonable that they would walk places together.

Schenectady Town-Gown relations show improvement? WTF?
Here's another hilarious comment, "parents have heard about the schools poor relation with the City". No they heard that the City was poorly managed, crime ridden and dangerous. They heard that someone was shot by the main college gates. Parent don't want to pay $50,000 a year to worry about their kids safety.
Students must travel in groups Downtown for safety. That's why they prefer to go to Saratoga. Another failed attempt by the Gazetto to cheer lead and avoid printing the obvious truth-that Metrograft is a total flop and that Union is losing out on excellent students because the City is a crime ridden mess.
Is it just me or was this article really NEWS WORTHY???

What news? It's a failed attempt to trick some parents that are up visiting on weekends. The City is in ruins, the streets impassible, the slums are approaching college gates. It's really not that bad as the students all travel in herds.
1. The kids get drunk thanks to the forced theft from the taxpayers
2. The kids do not pay taxes and those living off campus probably have momma and dadda to pay their rent when it's 4 or more kids sharing a place owned by one of the many slumlords.
Just wait til graduation when they see how much it will cost them in rent if they can even find a clean place up to code and they learn that the rent is high because the city is the one of the highest taxed cities in the country.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
