I was asked about the BOA Study and whether grant money could help rebuild Rotterdam Junction.

Since the BOA Study has done all of the preliminary studies and allows the town to enter Phase 3 which is implementation -----  I would say YES .... grant money could be used to help rebuild Rotterdam Junction.

There are elements of the study report that address redoing Route 5S  (slowing traffic, adding sidewalks and bike paths and lighting),  installing a sewer system along Main Street with the capacity to eventually add tie-ins from side streets  and  facade improvements for commercial and residential buildings.   Also proposals for land use and zoning language .. etc.

It does include proposals for Bicentennial Park including cleaning up and historically preserving the old Erie Canal lock --------------- my feeling is that we must work on the homes and businesses FIRST ... but we can still continue - simultaneously -  to seek funding for the new park.

By the way --  tell all the folks in Rotterdam Junction and throughout the town -- to mark their calendars for the first Saturday in August  -- August 4, 2012 -- for the 2nd Annual Rotterdam Summer Community Day.      We will celebrate our community and all funds raised will go to improve Woestina Park and Kiwanis Park which were badly damaged by the flood.

Really?  You show that you really care.  These people can't even sleep in their own houses, and you want them to plan something that is close to 11 months away to "celebrate?"  I think some of them would be more thankful to be able to sleep comfortably in their own bed.  Why don't you walk down to the Junction and Pattersonville and start spreading the word yourself.  I know you won't actually help with any of the clean-up, but I hope that you have a video camera on and share the video.  I want to see how they react.  Probably about like the wife of the man who I've been helping on his house a few times over the past week when there was a representative there from DEC, who was just someone who was given papers to pass out regarding pickup of hazardous materials.  This conversation came after she was at Rotterdam Square for 3 hours with FEMA and got absolutely NO help.  She just about sent the DEC lady running.  The lady living in the junction was so distraught, she just was just requesting that someone please condemn her house because she couldn't take it anymore with all the issues.  Guess if you invited her to the thing next summer, she wouldn't be living there, so I guess it would be wasted breath.

Actually -- if you bothered to read the post --- the main message was an answer to a question from a Junction resident who private messaged me -- but doesn't receive private messages.   The question was whether the BOA Study and grants associated with that could help with the clean up and recovery --- and I tried to answer that question as best as I could.

I won't bother to dignify your nasty, personal attacks and insinuations --- you have no clue as to who or how I helped recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.   You wouldn't know that I have personal family members who live in the Catskills and were impacted by those storms.   You wouldn't know because you and your ilk have never taken the time to be civil and actually get to know me --- all you ever do is post a nasty response to anything and everything that I post.    You and your ilk have only one motive to attack personally anyone who may have happened to disagree with you on a political issue or whom you think may disagree with you politically.

The plans for the 2nd Annual Rotterdam Summer Community Day were made BEFORE the flooding and by next August the residents will want a community event to relax and enjoy each others' company.   Those who came to the 1st Annual event - including a number of people from the Junction - enjoyed the event.

And EVERYONE is welcome to enjoy the Community Day ... no matter where they live.  We will pull through this difficult time and will be a better and stronger community because of it.

LOOOOOOVE IT!

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
