DV says I post nonsense. Nonsense is something that is of little importance, (Oh shucks, I can't get these to line up, tried several times. I'm sure most people can follow it, all except one)
I guess this is nonsense, huh?
City is the BIGGEST LOSER in mortgage receipts tax. DV probably doesn't know this because he owns no property nor pays taxes, but reduction in mortgage receipts means two things. Houses are NOT selling (and that's proven by houses sitting unsold for a year and more), and mortgage receipts are down because of sale prices falling, and sale prices are falling because property values are pllummeting big time in the city.
Municipality Last year This year Percent difference Duanesburg 55,285 69,768 26.2% Delanson 1,781 2,218 24.5% Rotterdam 302,539 292,257 - 3.4% Glenviille 302,277 289,921 - 4.1% Priincetown 20,600 19,583 - 4.9% Scotia 30,778 29,073 - 5.5% Schdy 247,947 190,034 -23.4%
They didn't put the actual figures in for Nisky but Nisky DID have an increase.
Of course, such a dramatic loss means the financially struggling homeowners will have to pay higher taxes to make up the ifference, right? Is that nonsense, DV? Is that infomration of little use?
So, discussion continues. Why are property values plummeting in the city? Can you answer that DV?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
This is no surprise to any Schenectady property owner. Just look at the abandoned homes in every neighborhood. The formerly very prestigious GE Realty Plot had a foreclosure auction. Hundreds of properties sit without any buyers, This includes churches and Downtown businesses. Bravo to Duanesburg and Nisky who are bucking the Countywide trend.
35 years of straight City DEM idiotic tax and spending policies combined with an out migration of middle class/working class residents. Schenectady is number 1 in taxes AGAIN while the SCSD is rated the lowest in the area-AGAIN. Instead of addressing the problem of too much spending the City DEMS come up with another half baked home buyers plan and free rent for businesses that want to dump thousands into getting their rentals up to code.
Not only is the mortgage tax down, what about all of the lost taxes from the vacant homes that people have just walked away from? What about the lost taxes from the exempt businesses?
There is proof of the city's decline. Just ride through it.....if you dare.
The roads are in shambles. The sidewalks crumbling. The over stuffed dss building. The shootings. The prostitutes. The drug dealers/users.
THERE IS NO MONEY FOR THE IMPORTANT STUFF.......just for the created patronage jobs, cell phones, cars, nursing home, the proctors empire.....and the list goes on.
Expect higher taxes cause this bunch ain't cutting spending any time too soon.......UNLESS........they get voted out!!!
But remember.........it will take YEARS to undo this mess!!!

I want to hear specifically what Roger Hull proposes to address this problem of crashing property values. Enough of the "nonprofit solutions" and Al recycles. The City needs a real fiscal CONS not more tap dancing around the problems. Is it possible to undo the mess of 35 years of DEM City Council's?

Hull needs to lower the welfare benefits in the county. He needs to sell the nursing home. He needs to cut 10% of all employees across the board EXCEPT FOR SAFETY! He needs to start cutting funding to proctors by 10%/year. He needs to put the tax exempt businesses back on the tax rolls. He needs to abolish the garbage fee/department totally. Let the property owners pay for their own trash collection.........and that's just a start!

No - he needs to cut funding to proctors by 100%, immediately.
Sink or swim Morris, sink or swim.
Personally, I think we need to maintain or increase are funding of Proctor's -- it has been and will continue to be a major part of the Renaissance of Schenectady.
They have a great line-up scheduled for 2011-2011.

If Proctors has a great line-up and is filling the theater for their shows then they are making enough money to pay their own bills without taxpayer funding. Helping Proctors to rehab the theater and to help with funds needed to put in modern equipment in order to enable them to host the new larger shows was reasonable. It was never meant to have Proctors become a permanent fixture on the taxpayer roles every year like welfare is.

OK, DV, you want funding maintained or increased. Please explain the financially struggling homeowners are supposed to pay for it! And tell us DV, the Lion King is said to have brought in $5 MILLION alone and now Morrtis lives in a luxury house with his lavish salary. Would you care to explain how homeowners are supposed to pay their bills while forking it over to Morris and the theater?
And tell us DV, Proctors has received tens of millions already. Please tell us DV, since the tens of millions of dollars in handouts to Proctors, tell us what has been the result in ghte city? Provide the numnbers for us of how many people are buying houses and moving into the city. Tell us what has happened to property values thanks to Proctors. What has happened to city services? What affect has Proctors had on local proeprty and school taxes????
Can you answer those questions? And provide documentation to support what you say? Sure, Proctors is nice. But taxpayers CANNOT and SHOULD NOT have to give welfare to it. Morris needs to get off the public dole.

You continuously refuse to engage in intelligent discussions. Do you dispute the fact that proeprty taxes in Schdy city are unafforable, are too high?
And with all the tens of millions given to Proctors already, can you tell us how that has helped lower the proeprty taxes on the financially struggling homeowners? Can you tell us how the welfare given to Proctors has helped improve services to the residents of the city? Can you tell us what the tax moneyh given to Proctors has had on property values?
Can you answer those questions and have an inteligent discussion based on undisputable facts?
Of course you can't. Because you know your wrong and you cann't provide one shred of proof to prove you right

no one said proctors was a bad thing.....but it MUST survive ON IT'S OWN ACCORD......it's like laying tile in your house on a rotted floor, or putting up curtains on paneless windows.....or how about putting a toilet in the middle of your livingroom without plumbing...yeah, sure it's a conversation piece but that's about it....
