WRGB's website has an article about how 1 on 3 young people plan to leave NYS, and 1 in 4 older adults plan to leave within 5 years.

This is the legacy of progressives.

More entitlements, more government workers, more benefits for government workers, more social programs.

Less jobs, less tax revenue...  A total collapse of the system.

Glenn Beck says it's all planned.

I say it is incompetence.

Rob Lowe was on the O'Reilly Factor sometime in the last week - and it was very interesting.  Someone who use to be a left wing zealot is now absolutely in "the middle".  He summarized political views as liberals are driven by feelings for the people, conservatives are driven by logic.  I found his description very interesting.

I'm actually have a lot of empathy for others, but logic wins over that empathy every time.

It's planned incompetence. A combination of DEM idiots that run unopposed on top of State overspending and mandates. Just this week it was announced that Schenectady has the HIGHEST property taxes in the region and City property owners had the biggest drop in property values. When is someone going to put these facts together? Roger Hull needs to announce his solutions.

Just raise taxes, that is the best answer. Then anyone who is not entirely committed to NYS can leave and everyone who stays behind will not mind if we keep raising raising them more so we can make all the "investments" we need to make. For the seniors and the "kids." Perfect solution. Makes great sense.

Apparently,  a certain he-she monkey can't quite understand that I am under no obligation to respond to the pathetic and incessant whining of braying jack a**.

Schenectady -- the city, the county and all of its towns and villages are better off today than they were 10 years ago --- we are heading in the right direction.   Every reasonable person recognizes that there is still much more work to be ...   but we are on the right path and the path is leading ever upward .. the Renaissance has begun.

Now -- we do need to get rid of a few more obstacles on that path ... thank God one of those obstacles on the County Leg will not be around next January ....  Next, we have to jettison Hugh "I haven't done anything more in over 30 years than take taxpayer funded vacations to Hawaii and Disneyworld" Farley .. and replace him with a good progressive minded Democrat who will seriously fight for and deliver  relief from the many unfunded state mandates burdening our county and municipalities.    Of course, we have to retain the Democratic majorities on the County Leg, City Council and Town Boards -- and rescue Glenville from the GOP troglodytes.

DV what world do you live in. The Schenectady taxpayers are already overtaxed by the states own admission, people are leaving the state in droves, there's no jobs available here to attract the recent college grads in order to get them to stay here. Just where do you think that the money will come from in order to build this fantasy land that you dream of.

How can you even say this? Ten years ago the crime rate wasn't as high as it is now in the City. Ten years ago the  Downtown might not have been so pretty, but there were businesses there and they were paying property and school taxes. Ten years ago people wanted to buy homes in Schenectady and now you can't even GIVE them away at auction.

Ten years ago I was proud of living and buying property in Schenectady, but now I'm just disgusted each time I pay my tax bill. Disgusted that the City Council hasn't done anything to cut cost, cut jobs or just cut the kick-backs. Disgusted that millions in tax revenue have been given to Proctors yet they give no money to the City for a PILOT or for school taxes. Disgusted that Gillen and Morris make well over $100K yet they have done little to add financial stability to the taxbase.

In November the City has the chance to move in the right direction. To vote out those who have decimated the City and bring in leaders...not followers.

The fact is that Schenectady is better off today than it was 10 years ago .. up to that point the County and, in particular, the city had been on the road to decline for at least 50 years ..  we are at least back on the road to growth and improvement.

GE is expanding its operations and hiring .. there are more businesses employing people downtown than there were 10 years ago  .. this is all part of the upward road to improvement.

You and your ilk are living in the dark fantasy world .. believing everything is evil and doom.  The fact is that the city and the county are improving and will continue on that road blazed for us by many folks - across party lines - who actually understand what "Working Together Works" means .. people who actually work hardto BUILD UP their communities  ..... unlike you, MC and your ilk who have added NOTHING positive to this community in your life and get your jollies tearing it down every chance you get.

If you don't like my positive attitude --- KMA and a get on the next train out of town.

You have a real fine attitude DV and people are right never run for office you have too much baggage. People present facts to you to explain how you're going to complete your fantasy and you go into a typical liberal rant of name calling and never producing any facts to back up your statements.

You can break this argument down to people who believe in their hearts that "Schenectady" is comprised of four square, tax-subsidized blocks, and those on the other side who know there is far more to "Schenectady" than the millionaire and government-owned four square subsidized blocks that the democrap progressives keep on masturbating to.

Bravo! Schenectady is doing better if you are one of the connected families. For 99% of taxpayers things are far worse. Funny that DVR fails to mention the 24% drop in resale values in ONE YEAR. Every single property in the City is over assessed. How are the conditions of the streets? How is the crime rate? How is the employment rate? How are the schools? And here's the funniest part-the DEM morons are running a candidate for Mayor who was the only one who wanted to raise taxes MORE than Stratton.

That has a lot more to do with the fact Jack Welch retired - and with it the companies disdain for this area.

We are talking about a guy who does not even receive a property tax bill in the mail. I receive 5 in total. This person would feint if he opened the mail and got a load of what mine tell me to pay. At least the ones in Schenectady County.

I don't know why we would even argue with a non-property tax paying freeloader like him. In the days of old, people had to own land in order to vote. Now you actually get a glimpse of the reasoning behind that system when you are the simple of owner of a 1,000 sf city bungalow, never mind being part of the privledged landed gentry.

It has a lot to do with the cooperation between the local Democrats and national Democrats and General Electric  --- unlike  the failed GOP administrations of the past 40 years ...  Democrats know how to work together to get the job done .. and bring new jobs and new opportunities to Schenectady County/

Didn't have a good laugh today until I read this.

I will agree that the previous administrations policy of "just raise taxes on GE" was a huge problem.

But this would not have happened if not for a leadership change on both sides.
