5 Corners really isn't a big deal, and there's not much of an issue moving through.  I understand that sometimes the traffic gets backed up, especially on Duanesburg Road, but that, too cycles through.  I agree, 55tbird, it's a matter of understanding how to drive and where you want to go.  I see tractor trailers that come through that have no issue.

I understand they may be trying to get traffic through quicker, but to take property away from businesses may not be the best thing to do.How closely to the gas pumps will they be taking?  Will there be issues with the location of their underground tanks?  If so, will the town have to pay for the moving of them?  How about the signage for both of these businesses that is close to the corner, and therefore, most likely on land that would be taken.

I wonder how much they will have to reduce the assessment on either one and/or both of the gas stations, which are currently both assessed at the same value of $325,000 once the size of their properties are decreased.

since 156 and 7 are state roads .. it would mostly be state monies going for this project ... but AGAIN no decisions have been made .. the double roundabout was just an option put out there for discussion .. other options are and will be consdered

I'll be interested to see what those other options are.

State Department of Transportation officials could have a roundabout solution for the town’s troubled Five Corners intersection.

The public voiced their opinion about the Floral Ave Apartment expansion and what the he** good did that do them? Asking the public for their opinion is just part of the dog and pony show that the government goes through before they do what they want.

The difference between the two is this ----  the Floral Ave Apartment involved  one private citizen proposing a project that required a zone change and a group of private citizens who supported the project   vs. a group of private citizens opposing it   ------- the Town Board acted within the law and based on a specific proposal  .. BTW ..I did NOT agree with the zone change.

The 5 Corners study was proposed by the previous Town Board  ( a GOP town board) and is in the information gathering stage  ---- the current Town Board is not directly involved in the study .. except if they choose to attend the public meetings  .......... at this moment -- a number of options are under study and consideration.

For once - act like a reasonable and intelligent citizen --- and actually inform yourself by attending the public meetings ...  before you open your pie-hole and make stupid derogatory comments.

The current town board is not involved and must attend a public meeting to be informed???? Can you explain that?  Seems quite strange that the current town board wouldn't be 100% involved and overseeing this activity.

The previous TB cost the taxpayer more in studies, which they ignored, than any administration in this town has ever done. They then took the cheap way out and not necessarily to the benefit of the taxpayer. You can put a double round-a- bout at five corners but you still have to drive through 4 corners, Helderberg/Curry, the light at Mohonasen School, and Altamont Ave to Chrysler Ave which can also have traffic jams at times. Hurry Up and wait. The town board never informed the people living around the apartments on Floral Ave how many signatures would be needed to force a super majority vote and slipped the proposal through for their buddy TD because the residents didn't know the law.

Who are the group of private citizens who supported the Floral Ave project!?  I'm glad to hear you did not agree with the zone change, but if you really knewall the details of this I don't think you could defend the actions of some members of this board.  This project shouldn't have needed a petition, it should have been voted down based on the density issues and encroachment into an R-1 neighborhood!

the residents were never told the TRUTH! they never had a fighting fair chance!

The rotterdam town board didn't know what the hell they were even voting on!! The 'developer' got up and ate the tb up and spit them out. (not that it is hard to do with this bunch)

And wc voted 'yes' while he admitted he didn't understand what he was voting on or for.

Guess ya won't be seein' his campaign sign anywhere on floral ave! Or anyone else on this tb!

I have attended a number of Planning Commission meetings and Town Board meetings when the issue came up -- and I believe that i understand the issue  and that is why I hav esiad publicly that I do not agree with the zoning change.
I have never defended the actions of the Town Board ... However, I will stand up and defend Mr. Calder from the vicious attacks directed toward him --because I believe he is a man of character and integrity.  He may have voted differently that I would have .. but I respect his right to come to a different conclusion than I would have and, quite frankly, i don't  let one or even several differences of opinion  shade my attitudes towards a person.
