NISKAYUNA
Mansion Square gets Chipotle as first tenant for project

BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter

Chipotle Mexican Grill this week became the first business publicly connected to the long-delayed Mansion Square project.
Developers this week fi led paperwork with the town naming Chipotle as one of three businesses to go into the first building set for construction at the Balltown Road and State Street site.
Meanwhile, two other projects across Balltown Road have gotten their approvals, with work on one already under way.
Aspen Dental is currently renovating the old Blockbuster at Mohawk Commons for an anticipated June 23 opening, a spokeswoman for the dental chain confirmed Wednesday.
The location is to be 3,400 square feet and include eight treatment rooms and about 10 employees, company spokeswoman Kasey Pickett said. Aspen Dental has 285 locations in 22 states.
Also receiving renovation approval is a renovation project at the Mohawk Commons Target. No date was available for that project, but Town Planner Kathy Matern said paperwork puts the renovations at $900,000, with much of the interior of the store to receive work. .....................>>>>....................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01501&AppName=1

Good news for Niskayuna -- but I'd rather eat at Dolce Vita anyday.

He's back! Yeah great news. After endless lawsuits, hundreds of trees clear cut and a historic home moved-a McDonald's Mexican! Release the lead balloons.

needless lawsuits ...  marginally historic building that had already been altered many times over ..  the truly historic structure would have been the original house which dated to the 17th century but was torn down to build the mansion

and since most of you folks just cry about high taxes but aren't willing to actually do anything sensible -- like grow the tax base through economic development -- it is pointless to try to explain those things to you

Economic development-Ya mean like at Gillen's Gulch? Now even a pathetic Chipotle's is cause for celebration. After years they finally got a tenant! The DEMS did a great job with that project-lol. Who needs trees? Next will hear about the 3 burrito wrapping jobs created. Plenty of vacant spots at St James Square and Hanaford Plaza that could have easily accommodated this.  But why bother listening to the majority of the residents?

because BOTH properties need to be filled with tenants ... leaving the Ingersoll Home vacant would have been stupid .. but I guess that is what you are suggesting ..

the fact is .. the building has been moved .. the project is moving forward .. you can sit in your bomb shelter in the back yard and suck your thumb and cry over the past

Should've opened a Pot Belly's or a Sonic. Both are better than Chipotle.

A sensible Chipotle's where useless green space/trees used to be?-lol.  Then in the next breath want more parks and a bike path. Real consistent. Can you think of any economic development that isn't food/governmental gin mill related? Try to get an industrial plant, expand rail lines or open up a warehouse. You prove how out of touch you are. Most of the folks that wanted to preserve the green space were lifelong Nisky DEMS.

Well, Chipotle seems to be popping up all over the capital region.  This will be the 3rd that I know of in the area.  There's one already open up on Route 7 (Troy-Schenectady Road) just before you get to the Northway, and there's also another that's already under construction on Wolf Road in Albany.  Maybe this will actually be a successful business coming into the county.  I hope so.  Maybe we got lucky, but I don't know.  I haven't been in one of these yet, so I can't say if it's good or bad.

DV, you need to learn.  The tax base does NOT grow by giving away tax dollars to rich develpers and then exempting millionaires from paying property taxes---thus REQUIRING the already overtaxed, financially struggling homeowners to make up the difference.

DV, you are obviously blind.   Have you noticed what has happened to the since the dems started robbing the homeonwers, since the dems started giving 100% (or very near) tax exemptions to milllionaire businesses downtown?   Have you seen how the taxes on the homeowners has gone up?  Have you noticed how property values have gone way way down?    Have you noticed how homes sit on the market for sale for over a year with no buyers?   Have you noticed how many homeowners have just abandoned their homes....that is have you noticed that the percent of vacant and abandoned homes is 25%.   Have you noticed how no one wants to buy a house in the city?   Have you noticed how the dems have resorted to a desparate attempt to attract peopel to the city by taking away money from services that are needed and instead giving away money to people to bribe them into buying in the city.  That proves how UNDESIRABLOE it is to live in the city.

Now, that said, care to tell us why you are CHOOSING not to buy a house in the city, not to even rent an aparatment in the city?   Why is that DV??????    Why do you avoid living in the city?????????

Actually, it's been quite pointless trying to explain things to you.  You are not a taxpayer, and as such you do not experience what the financially struggling homeowners in Schenectady are going through as those quarterly intervals approach when homeowners have to write out those huge chcecks to pay their taxes AND the taxes of the mllioniares.  And when January 15 of this year was rolling around, with the bitter cold and high heating bills, that must have been very difficult.   See, DV, you dont' own a house, you don't pay taxes.  See, when a public sector pension alone is so high that it pretty much precludes eligiblity for the STAR enhanced (tax relief) and add to it Soc Sec, well, living off that kind of taxpayer dole, no property taxes to pay, no housing to pay, no utilities to pay, no need to do repairs and maintenance on one's home, well, adults who can live off others easily will cheer for blowing money on stupid restaurants, hotels, gin mills, etc, because such adults don't have a clue to what the real world is like.

Come back and speak to us, DV, when you are paying a mortgage on a house in the city, and paying taxes that exceed the mortgage (principal and interest), come back and talk to us when you paying high taxes on a $30,000 houehold income with a family and trying to dodge bullets and live in fea of having your children playing outside even in front of your house.   THAT is what it's like for many in the city, DV.  Open your eyes and see.

DV, would you care to explain WHY none of your BS buddy (Stratton)'s department heads lived in the city?????    WHy not DV?????    Why did all his political patronae appointees refuse to move into the city??????    HUH???????   HUH??????

Why have a fair tax code that doesn't encourage bribery and extortion?  The Democrat's economic plan is to lure select wealthy businesses into Schenectady County by bribing them with the tax dollars collected predominately from the middle and lower classes via sales tax and tax exemptions, then they turn around and fill their political war chests with large contributions from these wealthy businesses that received the tax money and tax breaks. Then the County government hires a PR manager(on the taxpayer dime) to convince the masses with government propaganda that taking money from the middle and lower class with every purchase you make, and handing over to wealthy businesses is a real bargain for them. It's pretty simple.  People like DV who claims to be a member of the party representing the middle class and working class has no problem with this legal extortion and propaganda campaign because his party has been benefiting from it.  He feels if he propagates the party message, he too will benefit and be rewarded and allowed to feed from the public trough.

regarding Aspen dental off topic but anyone who goes there should really make sure they need the work that is suggested by Aspen.

My daughter who takes very good care of her teeth and rarely has a cavity switched to Aspen a couple years ago as her regular dental office closed down-the one by Hannaford.

So she goes to Aspen, they do the xrays and cleaning and tell her she has 8 cavities and needs a special deep cleaning of her gums. Thank goodness she got a second opinion, she had NO cavities and did not need a special cleaning.

Also my uncle went there, they had him sign up for some credit card to finance, they did many thousands in "work" he ended up with dentures that gave him severe sores and Aspen refuses to make good on the shoddy dentures.
