The Schenectady DEMS are desperate to sell their property. Which no one wants because of their taxes and their "leadership". See that the councilman's house is back on the market. It's an attempt to qualify some unqualified buyers that don't have a down payment. Then seize the house through tax foreclosure. By then the seller is in Florida enjoying a martini and a Cuban. If the DEMS would finally slash spending and fire some useless lobs things would improve. They refuse to do it. We must put in new curbs and fix the pavers on Dean St/Seward for the third time.

once again [no sur[rise there] you have the facts all wrong... the govt isn;t paying your mortgage, just helping with the down payment.. the program is for low income folks and it maxes out every year, which means people are moving into the city.

please remove your collective heads from your collective asses and come up for air...

it is spelled desperate --- like many of your cries for help.

Kind of like how the dems at the federal level tried to do with giving away money for people to buy homes.  Did Obama's actions make property values go up?   Did their actions result in removing all the foreclosures off "the list"    Did it do ANYTHING for the economy?   NO NO NO.

I, myself, FULLY understand this latest dem give-away.  I know that that the tax money is not paying the mortgage itself.  But come one, start seeing reality.  The homesonwers in the city are already overtaxed on their own property and school taxes.  Then the homeowners are forced to pay the property and school taxes of the millioniares downtown---in a huge spending spree that has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOLEVER to improve the city, it has ONLY resulted in much higher taxes on the homeowners, substantially lower vital city services, substantially higher crime rate, etc.

Take a look at 854 Eastern Ave.   House bought with tax dollars.  Then thousands spend in "home improvement" with, yep, taxpayer money.  This was federal money while DEMOCRAT Clinton was president.   Then the news was that holes in the walls "appeared"   and the owners went whining to Joe Allen.  It was all over the newspapers.    And they got more money.  But someone, they were not required to pay their property taxes through their mortgage as most people do.  So, guess what, they didn't pay their taxes.   But they wanted more "fix-it" money.   I think the city told them not until they paid their property taxes.  In around 2000 there was a fire in the house.   Guess what.  These people who were lavished with taxpayer money started the fire in the hopes they wouldn't get caught and they'd get the insurance money.   And here it is 11 years later.  The dems have TOTALLY IGNORED the neighborhoods whiel giveing MILLIONS to the millioniares dowtown.

So tell us, SB aka DV, how does the taxing the homeowners, giving away millions to downtown, how has that helped the people around Eastern AVe to deal with this long abandoned house?  And another one two doors away that also went up in flames.   What millioniare downtown has given money to the homeowners around Eastern Ave to fix up the area?   Instead they have that historic Morris Ave surrounded with druggies.  So, tell us what the improvements and the spending spree taxing the homeowners to the point where they must often choose between perhaps food and medicine in order to pay the taxes of the millionaires, what have the financially struggling homeowners gotten in retur for their high taxes?   I just use Eastern Ave because it's a good example of how it is TOTALLY WROLNG to give even one penny of tax dollars in give aways for people to buy houses or businesses.  Tell us about the pair of tax deinquents who made a handsome profit on their downtown building which they deliberately caused a million dollars worth of damage that the taxpayers have to pay for and then they don't pay taxes on the building, rather the taxpayers have to pay their taxes, and then the financially struggling homeowners have to pay them enough for them to make a 100% profit.

This obviously is the new dem's mayor trying to pretend he cares about the neighborhoods and things that by taking money needed for vital services, it's better to give it to people to buy houses, because, it's obvious, NO ONE WANTS TO MOVE INTO THE CITY!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

This is all about the DEMS selling. They could care less about low income people. The DEMS are desperate to sell their property. So they found a lender to help qualify unqualified buyers. This will only help the foreclosure business. We already saw what happened when Congressman Barney Frank lowered mortgage standards nationally. So now we will try it in the City? This is doomed to failure but will help unload some rental properties.
