Ron Paul hates Big Government... (Except when it's in his district so that he will get reelected)
This board's chosen candidate and GOD who sells himself as an "outsider" and a "anti-government/free-marketeer", doesn't seem to mind being an INSIDER or a BIG-GOVERNMENT SOCIALIST, when it comes to P O R K!
Ron's Insider, Big Government Socialism? See list below:
$8 million from federal taxpayers for Recreational Fishing Phase Piers.
·$2.5 million from taxpayers for “new benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, decorative street lighting.”
·$2.5 million from taxpayers to modify medians and sidewalks for an “Economically Disadvantaged” area.
·$2.5 million from federal taxpayers for a “Revelation Missionary Baptist Community Outreach Center.”
·$38 million in multiple requests for literacy programs to “encourage parents to read aloud to their children.”
·$18 million from federal taxpayers for a Commuter Rail Preliminary Engineering Phase (light rail).
·$4 million from federal taxpayers for the “Trails and Sidewalks Connectivity Initiative.”
·$11 million from federal taxpayers for a “Community-Based Job Training Program.”
·$2 million from federal taxpayers for a “Clean Energy” pilot project.
·$5 million from federal taxpayers in order to build a parking garage.
·$1.2 million for a “Low-income working families Day Care Program”
·$4.5 million from federal taxpayers for a new Youth Fair facility.
When the rest of us are in the midst of the worst economic times in our lifetimes, Ron Paul is a Spend Spend SPEND Libertarian... (Spending OUR Tax Dollars) $138 million in 2011, and a whopping $398 million in 2010. |

About right but once again you fail to give all the information, Paul voted against all those spending bills and if he didn't get the money back to his state it would be spent by the federal government. |

NOPE! You're wrong on that point... Paul voted FOR earmarks spent in his district. In 2011 Paul was one of only four Republicans to request earmarks. $138 million worth, and $398 million in 2010. Paul attached that list of spending projects to various bills to bring government money back to his district to fund his pet projects. (One would think that EARMARKS are not needed as there should be a free market for these things) |

Earmarks are put in spending bills that must be passed by the houses, he voted NO on the spending bills. He never denied trying to get the money back to his district that pays taxes for those bills, he wants the money going back to his taxpayers. |

Yeah...But he voted against the federal budget the included the earmarks. If the money was never taken out of his district by the federal government, the state government could have collected it locally to spend on those projects. He compared it to your federal income tax withholding; you file for a tax return in order to get YOUR OWN MONEY BACK. If they never collected the money to begin with, you wouldn't have to go get YOUR MONEY. Good try though box... |

So this GOD and great leader who believes in smaller govt and free markets... ATTACHED EARMARKS TO BILLS FOR HIS OWN DISTRICTS... to send US Taxpayer dollars to his own district... then voted against those bills... Knowing that those bills would pass. MAN! What a con artist. He sucks from the govt teat, then denies that he is the one doing the sucking! What a SCAM! |

You are the one telling me that he voted against these bills. Since he was the one who applied for the earmarks and wrote the earmarks for his district into bills, I just assumed he would also vote for them. Had Ron Paul not wrote these earmark riders into unrelated bills in congress... the US Taxpayers would not have had to pay for the millions of dollars in Paul's Texas District Pork. Maybe I underestimated Ron Paul. With a scam like this...he could go far. |

Actually they would, what money isn't used in earmarks is sent to the Federal government, in other words the budget isn't raised because of it. |

Money not spent by the US Govt, would carry over or be a surplus. Either way... It's OUR TAX DOLLARS. Paul talks "limited govt" when in reality his actions are those of "Just Another Republican." |

What's funny is, you act as if you are against it. Are you? BTW... Surplus is revenue exceeding spending, not lack of earmarks. Come on box, at least try to be honest. |

If Ron The Magnificent were to stop his Earmarks for his Texas district... then I'll listen to his "smaller govt" BS. Now he' isn't practicing what he preaches. |

a politician cant just make a gesture for their own court......and expect it to change the bigger picture......regulations need to be made....regulations ON THE GOVERNMENT....FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
earmarks get pushed through because the federal reserve demands it.....they are looking for the pennies on the other side of the meat grinder |
