Close the place........PLEASE!!

Enough already! The boomers are NOT going to join a senior center that perhaps their elderly parents belonged to. WHY? Because they don't view themselves as elderly!!!!! DUH!!

You rotterdamians are trying your damnedest to make boomers into their parents. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!! This senior center has become nothing more than a political gossip center that fights over a stupid tip jar!! You people need to get a grip and join the world of reality of 2011!!!

obviously -- you folks are a bunch of Republicans who view any dollar spent on our senior citizens as wasted .. these are the same GOPers who quote the Bible on everything but fail to show an ounce of Christian compassion towards the elderly or the poor among us

I'm quoting...."take care of YOUR parents"......get it....? yours not mine....yours....I mean if you want to help and come over and assist
that's fine....if not, then dont let the government say they can do a better 'collective job'.....
volunteer if you want....there are already services that are set up for the elderly.....

I fill out VNA forms at work and in order to get 'home service' the word used is 'taxing on the family' so that family doesn't have to transport etc....

dont let the government ever tell you that you dont do it right.....it's all right just not perfect....

and the senior center is a cheesy retirement  fun house.....what services are there?  you can play cards at eachother's homes....paint at the adult
ed classes, paint at church, go to lectures at the library etc etc.....if the elders served there require medical assistance then it is wrong....

we dont need an elderly gathering place because they are bored.....that's what diners are for and coffee shops and malls....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Maybe the local churches should reach out to help the seniors?

Maybe we should be able to give to our churches to be able to do more in the community, but the government keeps taking more and more?

When will enough be enough?

How much is enough?

How much is giving too little?

If a family is having a hard time taking care of their own, who is someone else to say that they should also shoulder the burden of someone else's elderly?

There's only one senior center in town (plus, I believe a place for meals out in Rotterdam Junction).  Why couldn't this be split up to be done at any one of the 20 churches throughout town (as currently listed @ http://rotterdamny.org/main/churches.htm)?

People can't afford all of these fluff government programs. And that is just what the rotterdam senior gossip center is....FLUFF!!!

Here's an idea............if it is true that rotterdamians want a senior center in their town, then shut off the tax flow and let it be supported strictly on personal donations.  That would be the true picture.....yes?

Many of these poor...poor... seniors you are talking about are sitting on a fortune in their bank accounts.  Senior citizen doesn't mean destitute, it means you made it to 65 years old.  Bible says nothing about hoarding your own money and enjoying the services paid by everybody else.  Don't blur the line between elderly and poor - two different categories.

Slam dunk! This is not about seniors-its about providing a lob job for Cousin Vinnie. It's about a friendly crowd for Taxin Tonko to rail against character schools and for Obamacare. Even the pathetic City DEMS have gotten out of this. Then they opened a socialistic body shop. Next get out of the County Home business as Montgomery and Fulton County have successfully done.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

People are not so opposed to their tax dollar going to help the 'economically poor' left with no family for any support.

People ARE opposed to their tax dollar going to support a senior center for the sole purpose of playing cards, bingo, trip planning, exercise...etc...things that schools, churches, private business can provide and that they can supply, pay for and provide for themselves. And the boomers are doing just that!!!
