ROTTERDAM
Mini job boom draws flocks to McDonald’s Locally, nationally, business good at fast food operations

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

One day isn’t a lot of time to sift through more than six dozen job applications.
But that’s the task McDonald’s franchisee John Reeher and his staff were facing as part of the company’s one-day push Tuesday to hire 50,000 people across the country. He’s hoping to add about 10 employees to staff his bustling fast food restaurant at Rotterdam’s Five Corners; the steady stream of applicants was giving him an ample pool to choose from.
“And they’re still coming in,” he said.
McDonald’s is poised to add roughly 8 percent to its national work force in response to the corporation’s continued growth. Sales at franchises throughout the United States increased 2.7 percent last month, driven in part by new menu items and expanded hours.
Like the McDonald’s corporation itself, business has been booming for Reeher, who purchased the Rotterdam franchise about three years ago and has since watched sales increase by roughly 7 percent annually. He invested roughly $750,000 into overhauling the building last summer and is poised to keep the restaurant open 24 hours a day in May.
“Business just keeps growing,” he said.
And so have his employment needs. Reeher said the demands of the restaurant’s increasingly complex menu and expanded hours have stretched thin his staff of 55 full- and part-time workers.
The jobs at McDonald’s won’t pay the best. Most workers start out at about $7.25 per hour, with hourly managers making about $2 more. ...................>>>>........................>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00101&AppName=1

It' time that some become independent responsible mature adult and get a job, leave the teet behind

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

How long do you think it will take for these jobs to be counted in to the success of the Metroplex?

Does anyone really believe that you can live on what McDonald's pays an hour. If the dollar fails and we become a third world country which could happen then the jobs at McDonald's might look pretty good.

You know, it's odd. I saw something somewhere that led me to the fact that McDonalds, on this one day, did this, and while there was no additional publicity, they actually hired many more people than the 50,000 they originally stated that they would.  In fact, almost 25% more.  62,000 to be exact.  And what are some people saying about it???  Well, check out this site...

http://tiny.cc/hx4r4

They're not congratulating McDonalds for going above and beyond hiring the number of people, they're actually complaining.

Why? Because to get the 62,000 people that they decided to hire, they received 1 MILLION applications and had to turn away most of them.

938,000 Applicants Turned Away From Employment At McDonalds
Hundreds of job seekers filled out applications and were interviewed at a San Francisco McDonald's restaurant during a one-day nationwide event at the chain as they look to fill 50,000 positions at stores nationwide.
My God, what has become of the once great and mighty nation?

McDonald's released a statement today in which it announced that it has hired 62,000 workers recently on their April 19th hiring day. What is the most disturbing piece of information in the press release is that McDonald's received a total of 1 million applications in all.
