GOP aims for unity with endorsements

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Some Rotterdam Republicans considered Brian McGarry an election spoiler when he ran for supervisor on the No New Tax Party line in 2009.
Now the party is hoping his candidacy will be a unifier, as they move forward to mend a party schism that led to a defeat of nearly all the Republican candidates two years ago. McGarry, a fi scal conservative who recently enrolled as a Republican, was selected as the party’s candidate for supervisor during the town committee’s meeting Thursday.
McGarry’s nomination came after Chairwoman Tracy Donovan circulated a resolution among committee members asking them to put past differences aside and help advance the chances of all candidates on the Republican ticket. All 17 committee members in attendance signed the resolution.
“We’ve realized we’re not going to win elections without unity,” she said during the meeting. “Right now, we’re trying to move forward.”
The committee also tapped Chris Tomaselli and Aurelia Lazzari as its choices for the two Town Board seats up for grabs in November. Highway Superintendent James Longo and Justice Kevin Mercoglin, both incumbents, also received nods from the committee.
The Rotterdam Republicans named Wade Abbott and Nicola DiLeva as their choices for the town’s two seats on the county Legislature. The recommendations will be forwarded to the Schenectady County Republican Committee, which will make the fi nal determination.
The ticket was endorsed by all 17 members attending the meeting. An additional nine proxy votes were submitted in favor of the slate. ................................>>>>................................>>>>....................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01703&AppName=1

There you have it!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Despite all the false predictions Tracy did a great job putting together an electable Unity slate. Both the town and County GOP/NNTP slates are strong. The best news is at the County level. Let the DEMS run on Savage's weak record. The City DEMS are in free fall and the town DEMS have to pick a REP to fill out a weak slate.

Hurdle one is cleared...Hurdle two will be composing a unified campaign narrative between NNTP and GOP...Hurdle three will be keeping disgruntled GOPers from sabotaging the campaign of NNTP candidates...IMO

Let me guess, Wade will be running for Angelo's county seat.

Moving cautiously in a positive direction.

I heard Salamone and Parisi were so outraged by the endorsements of a bunch of political neophytes that they have decided to run for county leg and are talking to other real republicans to put together a full slate for the Town races.
