There was yet another drive by shooting in Schenectady, Sunday night according to the paper.

This is what DV claims is the city's accomplishments.   But DV continuously avoids commeting on the ballooning crime rate.  He needs to have his eyes checked, his ears checked, and his brain checked.

Scary.   Bet summer is going to be hell.

I feel sorry for the good people in the city, and sorrier for those who are want to get out of city and the its dangers, but who are stuck there because they can't pay two mortages (via moving out), at a time when there simply are few, if any, homes in the city that are actually selling.

Some people just praise the city and refuse to acknowledge that there are a record number of houses for sale that sit unsold even a year on the market, and refuse to admit that many are just giving up and high tailing it out of the city, as proven by the record high numbers of vacant/abandoned houses.  Some people claim that those in power have accomplished oh so much.   If they accomplished so much, then how come the taxes are are going up up up, and property values going down down down, and crime going up up up, and vital city services going down down down, and numbers of people trying to sell going up up up, and houses being bought is going down down down.

And the cheerleaders won't answre the question of how many houses in the city sold, among that full page list of transactions within all of Schenectady county.

relatives of mine had a nice house on the sch'dy rotterdam border. they had it up for sale for a very long time, it didn't sell. they ended up moving into an apartment complex and letting the bank take it. they had lived there many years.

as it was on the sch'dy tax roll the taxes were sky high.

there are two very nice houses for sale on my daughters block in woodlawn, you would think they would have sold fast, nope just sitting there with there for sale signs.

on hamilton st there are two duplex houses been up for sale for at least two years no takers.

Taxes are too high and the school district is not up to par to be able to sell homes in Schenectady.

There has been a house for sale in the formerly elegant GE Realty Plot for 3 years. The historic Yates House is now on the market. There are a record number of houses for sale in the City with no takers. There are many buildings Downtown including a restaurant on Jay that has been vacant for years. No one has faith in the City DEMS spending and taxing policies. A modest house for sale in the Stockade for $125,000 has $9,000 City/school taxes. Then they wonder why people are renting or letting property fall into tax foreclosure. Raising taxes is pulling on a string-revenue will continue to drop. The DEM fair share PILOT plan was a joke.

No one is falling for an alleged "renaissance" based on opening another governmental gin mill. If McCarthy/ City DEMS want to retain any seats, they better start slashing spending, enforcing the residency laws for top positions, turning in City vehicles and returning cell phones. Losing the bloated Mayor's salary and immediately  rehiring a City retiree is a poor start.

I have a friend that works for a real estate agency who said it's almost impossible to give a house away in Schenectady. The first questions that potential buyers ask is how much are the taxes and what school district is the house in. When the potential buyer hears the answer they say not to show them any more houses in that area.

I have a friend of a friend of a friend who is a real estate agent who said people would rather slit their wrists and drink the blood of goats before moving into Rotterdump -- they want nothing to do with the idiots who run the town 00 they read the posts on this board and think everyone there is a freaking lunatic. I, of course, tell them that is true, that everyone is Rotterdump is a freaking idiot and that the posters here are morons and reflect the mindset of the entire community. Go live in Japan near a nuclear plant, I tell them. Life will certainly be better thanliving on a down that practically floats on a sea of sewage.

just saying

It would appear that the truth hurts. One can always tell a true liberal, when confronted with facts they babble incoherently.

He didn't get his fax from Death Ray/DSIC today. Therefore he is off message. Rotterdam has it's problems but they pall in comparison with those of the City. Rotterdam's finances can be quickly corrected-Schenectady's not. Now that we have a governmental gin mill no reason to venture into Downtown?
