Police investigating vandalism of about 20 gravestones

    SCHENECTADY — A group of youths vandalized about 20 gravestones in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at 1808 Albany St. on Friday evening, police spokesman Matthew Dearing said.
    He said Friday night that police received a call about a possible incident at the cemetery around 6:30 p.m. Officers were unable to find anyone at the cemetery when they responded to the scene, but they did discover that about 20 gravestones had been turned over and numerous garbage cans had been damaged.
    Dearing said an investigation is continuing.

Hope they catch these punks, I would give them 100 hours of community service working at the cemetery. Make them cut the grass with a pair of scissors and have them polish the tombstones with a toothbrush.

You are really getting quite emnbarrassed aren't you, DV.   You are getting quite embarrassed with the weekly occurrences that prove there is no renaissance in the city.  The robbing of the financially struggling homeowners is accomplishing NOTHING but making neighhborhoods VERY VERY VERY VERY dangerous.


SO DV......WHEN ARE YOU BUYING A HOUSE IN THE CITY????????    When is your closing date????????      Gee, DV, you 've been praising the misuse of taxpayer money, claiming the city is so much improved, please provide an explanation of WHYT you are not buying a house thyere???????  

Gee, DV, all those incentives to buy a house, the tax credit from the fed govt, the extremely low low low interest rates, the handouts for all the fixing up, particularly the energey credits, and then the plummerting property values in the city would make buying a house a real bargain.  People could probably pay off their mortgage for a house in the city in 10 years, saving a huge amount in interest.   And having the government handouts so your energy bills will be substantially reduced, could buy a house, be free and clear in 10 years, ok, 15 at the very most, and high efficiency appliances and other savings.  

Now, if what DV claims is right, that the city is in a renaissance, then buying a house now will reap HUGE rewards.  If the city is in a renaissance, then property values can only go up, so if DV had a brain he would know you buy a house today for $50,000 and then it will be worth $150,000 when downtown is all done.

So, DV, tell us WHY, tell us WHY you are choosing NOT to invest in the city?????????     YOU claim the city is getting better, so WHY are YOU NOT investing in it??????    Wjhy are you NOT buying a house in the city?????


Can you admit that it's because the taxes are way way way too high?   Could it be that you silently don't want to give money to the millionaires downtown?    Could it be because you are afraid of getting killed in a drive by shooting?   Could it be you are afraid of being in a restaurant or a gas station while a gunman comes in to rob the place?   Could it be you are afraid of being a victim of a home invasion?   Or victim of robbery, assault, or rape?    Could it be because you don't want to live in a city with few services?

Living on the dole is so much better

I am NOT embarrassed about the progress that has been made in the City of Schenectady in the past 8 years under a Democratic Mayor and Council working in partnership with Metroplex and a Democratic majority on the County Legislature.    I am proud of their accomplishments  They are cleaning up the mess left by yearsof GOP mayorships, GOP county legs and  a do-nothing GOP State Senator  Hugh "lets take $40,000 trips and bill it to the taxpayers" Farley.

I have not lived in the city of Schenectady for 31 year and as for where I choose to own properties .. it really isn't anyone's business.

Hey DV, look in todays paper.  There is list of real estate tranactions in Schenectady county.   Would you care to tell us what percent of that list was a purchase of a home by people rather than banks (as in foreclosure).    The number of house purchased IN the city is clear indication that NO ONE wnats to buy in the city.  Why is that DV?????  

Can you tell us why no one is buying a house in the city????????    WHY DV?   WHY DV?????????   If the city is getting so much better, explain WHY people are avoiding making the investment when prices AND interest rates are low.   Why DV?????    WHY?    

All those HUGE handouts, tax credits, explain why virtually no one bought a house in the city with that money????????    

I would hope that some day the cemetery thing would become a strange ritual of the past......JMHO

although it's not their property to touch.....
