Then where were the so called 'economic planners'? If Gillen was the ceo of a private company.........he would have been REPLACED/FIRED a long time ago!!!!
He never would have been hired. BTW he's a pol science grad from Buff State not an economic planner.

Yes, double the Metroplex spending cap, sell every building to Galesi for $1, triple the number of job creating bars using Metroplex money, exempt businesses in Schenectady County that donate over $1000 to the Democrat Party, contract the Lion King for every weekend in 2012. Then in order to support all the non profits, chosen businesses that don't pay property taxes, and pay for government patronage positions, raise everybody else's taxes at least 10% or until they are to the point of qualifying for social services.

A great review of Metrograft "accomplishments". These DEMS can't run a lemonaid stand. The all DEM City Council looks like a public employee retirement home. Landslide Savage can't get 40% of the vote.
It's a complete farce. Anyone that supports again increasing Metrograft debt ceiling should be chased out of the County. Let Death Ray go back to his State lob job. In 3 days the Parker Inn went belly up and 2 former DSIC workers were arrested for stealing thousands of pounds of tree grates. There is no way to reform it-abolish it.
This change has many merchants up in arms. Why should their customers have to pay because Proctor's has a show? Nothing Metrograft does makes any sense. You promise your customers free parking and then they see the signs.
The Parker Inn is the first of many coming disasters because of Death Ray total failure to locate any retail or new companies downtown. When Proctor's doesn't have a musical tumbleweed rolls down State Street. Everything was bet on the arts and he crapped out.

Like I said on another thread.............many many many people have offered alternative solutions the the ever growing problems facing the taxpayers at city council and county leg meetings...........only to be met with DEAF EARS AND ROLLING EYES!!!

The growing opposition to the Downtown fiasco have been proven right time after time. It's all a taxpayer ripoff and 3 card monty where the taxpayer always loses. They lie about multiplier affects, job creation, loan repayment and no one calls them on it.
We don't have to offer any new solutions-the only solution is dissolve DSIC and Metrograft. Use the increased sales tax money not to flush Downtown on governmental gin mills but to lower property taxes Countywide. Death Ray should have been fired over the Big House fiasco. Schenectady County still has the highest unemployment in the Capital Region. With Metrograft. With Death Ray. With the DSIC. With the all DEM City Council. There is no way to pass the buck on the Parker Inn-if it was a bad deal than Death Ray had 7 years to restructure it. He did nothing and then blamed some else.
This is a comment on a TU blog and someone said there are no jobs. This is PM reply to someone who spoke negetiviely about Sch'dy "success"
Wow, it is amazing how a happy event can turn into an anti-government squabble.
Let’s at least be honest here about the great success Schenectady and the region has had getting what #13 calls primary jobs. Hundreds of new folks at GE wind, millions invested at Global Research, dozens of small tech companies, not to mention the granddaddy GlobalFoundries. Yes, people who work at GlobalFoundries will come to Schenectady to live and certainly to see a show at Proctors and eat at one of our terrific restaurants downtown.
We are doing an amazingly good job, I think, at the many different but interconnected economic development needs we have. Could there be more? Or course. Will there be more? You bet!
In the meantime, celebrate every step along the path……..like the opening of Bombers, a part of the region’s entertainment district!

Look at the CDTA Bus in the picture. So fitting to have the largest discount retailer in the center of the picture. I wonder if Walmart paid for that spot?
It's hilarious to hear Death Ray try and spin his way out of this. The Parker Inn is a total disaster that received a million grant and 2 separate loans from the taxpayers. If the deal was so rotten why didn't he revisit it? Because he was too busy with The Big Hose and trying to save the Van Dyke. More shoes are fixin to drop. Just look at the State/Federal tax lien list.
Not one Metrograft project meets its employment goals or repayment goals. Metrograft is third in line behind the NYS Bus Development Corp and First Niagara. The County taxpayers have been subordinated just like at the Van Dyke. Both Metrograft and the useless DSIC have go.
Why the uproar. This is normal in any renaissance.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
