Joebxer--your website is from "Messianic Jews" so it lacks a certain validity if you are interested in a theological discussion that INCLUDES Jews. A real understanding or Torah-theology and Christology can increase the dialogue between both faiths but for sure we would need more Christian scholars who would be Judaic scholars as well...example Mary Boys.

Also, Jesus genealogy goes back to King David on both his mother's side and his father's side. Yes, it is true that if your mother is Jewish, you are considered Jewish, but in fact, both of Jesus' lines of ancestry were Jewish.

I have friends....husband jewish and mother christian. They have 2 daughters that are being raised jewish. The old jewish rabbi said that the mother MUST be jewish in order for the children to be truly recognized as JEWISH!!
The rabbi said that the daughters are being 'raised' in the jewish religion but are NOT actually jewish since the mother wasn't.
anyone can follow the jewish religion like sammy davis jr did......but he was NOT JEWISH!!

I doubt that you have ANY rabbi friends. But you are right a person's "Jewishness" comes from the mother because you always KNOW who the mother was, not always the father. However, you get your status in Judaism from your father. He determines if you are a Kohen, Levite or and Israelite.
Some folks just don't brag or blab or self elevate themselves by mentioning their education, family, friends, jobs or acquaintances continually.
