It is for the kids. So everyone accept it.

Do you have anything else to contribute or are you just going to keep posting this? Yes, we get it, you don't give a damn about the kids, it's all about you. Screw the kids, put them to work in the boot blacking factories just like they did before the terrible unions existed. Those were the good old days!

It's the current administration of the teachers unions that are doing more to HURT kids than any politician.

Our kids performance versus the rest of the world flat out SUCKS.
The Union administrations answer to the problem has always been to throw more money at it.
Well , we've been doing it for years and it hasn't worked.

How about taking a look at the countries at the top of the list and see what they are doing?
You'll see longer school days, longer school years and not as much emphasis on feel good BS programs..and that's just for starters.

Yes! For the kids! See what the "conservatives" want to do? Put them in boot blacking factories! Excellent idea Murray, scare the parents with the fear of their poor babies having to work and possibly even raise a slight sweat at some stage in their meager existence! If the teachers don't get the automatic raises while the private sector is unemployed and the fully funded pensions and healthcare and three months a year off then the kids will end up in boot blacking factories! What did I tell you? Now STOP complaining about things like death threats, or the kids will be blacking boots! You mean right wingers!

TRIPLE TAXES! THEN, EDUCATION WILL BE THREE TIMES BETTER!

National Education Association’s retiring top lawyer, Bob Chanin, speaking at the NEA’s annual meeting in July, 2009:

“Despite what some among us would like to believe it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children and it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power.”

“And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year, because they believe that we are the unions that can most effectively represent them, the unions that can protect their rights and advance their interests as education employees.”

“This is not to say that the concern of NEA and its affiliates with closing achievement gaps, reducing dropout rates, improving teacher quality and the like are unimportant or inappropriate. To the contrary. These are the goals that guide the work we do. But they need not and must not be achieved at the expense of due process, employee rights and collective bargaining. That simply is too high a price to pay.”

Funny how you read those comments as some kind of negative against unions and teachers. Chanin gave his speech at the NEA annual meeting and they gave him a 5-minute standing ovation. His point was that teachers do not get the respect they deserve from politicians and members of the public due to their "creative ideas", the "merit of our positions", or because "they care about children"; the politicians don't care about the teachers in that regard, they only listen to teachers if there is a powerful union behind them, a union strong enough to push that politician out of office.

It's amusing how the right feels that teachers should not be allowed to spend their own money on dues for unions that try to protect their rights. But it's OK for corporations to spend millions of dollars on PACs, lobbyists, and ad campaigns to further their own agendas. Oh, but those corporations aren't taking taxpayer money, right? Sure, it doesn't affect the taxpayers at all when their lobbyists help write bills that create tax loopholes that allow companies like ExxonMobil to make billions of dollars a year and effectively pay no income tax.

They should be allowed to spend their money on union dues, but not FORCED to join the union because of the profession you choose, and have the state automatically deduct dues from your paycheck.  You do believe in the freedom to choose don't you?

In 2009, you are correct as far as INCOME taxes, but lets be clear, they do pay taxes.

They might have to work in boot-black factories so stop asking questions about their taxpayer funded compensation. You all have no right to do so without being...

YOU GUESSED IT-                     AGAINST THE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, instead of making fun of Johnny-One-Note, I think I have a solution that will make all happy:

Require teachers and all other government employees to fund their own pensions and make them invest their pension funds NOT INTO THE STOCK OF ANY EVIL CORPORATION, but only into their own endeavors, since they believe themselves to be so profitable to society. So instead of them having to participate in the gluttony and greed of corporations they can take their pension money and then invest it into a fund that taxes their own work. Seeing as they produce so much I am sure that fund will grow and grow and they will all be happy and rich when they retire because those damn evil companies do nothing but take take take, anyway! Why wouldn't it work? They hate the companies and want more of the shareholder profits for their pensions but if the companies are so evil, why would they want that blood money anyway?

Forbes only said it doesn't know, and Exxon isn't telling. Here's another article saying Exxon paid no U.S. income tax in 2009:
