Boy, if it wasn't for this forum, local news organizations wouldn't have 1/2 of the news in Rotterdam.

Benny begins the post on March 10th and it took the Gazetto two days to follow up?? Well, maybe it took that long because only Kathleen Moore can turn fact into fiction.

Whoa there MC1!!!!!

I wouldn't be too quick to pump up the reps. Perhaps they did have honorable plans for the plex at it's inception. But don't be too quick to think that they wouldn't have done the same thing........except with THEIR chosen few!!! And that is why the plex needs to be abolished NOW!!!

Get the government and the taxpayer's money out of the business of creating businesses. That should be left solely up to private businesses. It is the governments job to provide a safe and healthy environment. Maintained roads/infrustructure. And low taxes. And an area of residents that can afford to support new businesses. And a good school system! THAT IS THEIR ONLY JOB!!

Abolish the plex and make it the #1 election issue! Don't vote for anyone who supports and wants the plex to continue!!

Bumble, Oh, no, I'm not trying to praise the reps.  Many people were concerned back then about metroplex being just another way to get taxes out of people.  THe only thing I was trying to do was to explain how must worse it has gotten under the dems.  At least the Reps, for what they did, the tax exemptions were smaller AND had end dates.  The Dems, however, have given 100% tax exemptions to very very very wealthy for profit businesse and these examptions for the most part have no end date at all.  The PILOTS that are being paid, even when increased to whatever the "full" pilot will be, that pilot amount will still amount to only a small amount compared to what would be paid in tasxes.  More would be collected in taxes from downtown IF these places got a 100% tax exemption for ten years and then elimination of the exemption all together.  Howver, the dems have set it up so their buddy millionaires will forever be tax exempt, unless those exemptions can be taken away.

And the other thing is that, like with Bombers, their PILOT is paid by the taxpayers, it is NOT paid by Bombers.  Bombers gets a 150% tax exemption, so that 50% obviously provides payment on the PILOT, PLUS provides them a taxpayer handout with which to pay for private trash collection, and I think the businesses still have to pay for water and sewer fees, so the extra exemption also gives Bombers money so that the taxpayers are paying Bombers water and sewer charges.

These handouts have got to STOP

Apparently - all you folks have been dead wrong about  a lot happening downtown ---
proof that you are wrong --1) Proctor's does generate business for downtown business as cited by the business owner in this article.    2) she is not selling because downtown is dead and has no business .. she clearly states she is busy but wants to focus on catering and other interests

So once again -- the nattering nayboobs of negativity are proven wrong.

Again DV, you avoid answering the questions.   Why?????    Obviously you avoid answering these questions because you know that the answers to them will prove that all the taxpayer handouts to downtown has done NOTHING for the city.

So, again, DV, I post again and ask you to provide information about HOW all the this money spent downtown has helped the city.   C

Tell us what has happened to homeowners property taxes.   Well??????    An answer?????????
Tell us what city services have been ADDED in return for higher taxes.
Tell us what has happened to the number of vacant and abandoned houses in the city
Tell us what has happened to the crime rate.
Tell us what has happened to trash collection since all this spending
Tell us how many high paid employees at DOT and that other agency, have bought houses in the city.  (I'm not talking about typists)
Tell us how many times a snow emergency has been declared since plexy really got off the ground.
And I'll add, tell us how many people who come to shows at Proctors from further away have decided to buy houses in Schenectady.  Well??????

What are you answers to the above.

And, before you say "it has improved," provide some documentation to support your answers to the above questions

DV, if you decide to respond with one of those stupid comments about nattering naybobs, etc that only proves that you cannot come up with answers (to the above) that show that there have been improvements.  If you make respond with those stupid comments, it will prove that you are avoiding the truth, and that you are too embarrassed to admit that nothing has iimproved in the city.

The proof of the alleged "renaissance" is in the City tax bills. They continue to skyrocket with no end in sight. When the facts are against you resort to simplistic name calling.

I heard at the donut shop that Chez Daisie lowered their selling price. Rumor?

It's too bad that these folks who worked tirelessly at this business can't find a buyer. This is just another schenectady business owner that has become collateral damage due to the economic lie they were and still are all told.

DV, you are unemployed.  You cheer for downtown so much, if downtown is oh so successful, then maybe you could get some more taxpayer money

Here's the facts from MLS not some DEM moron. The bistro dropped it's asking price $50,000 from $85,000 to $30,000. No one wants a business Downtown. The taxes would kill anyone. Ask Mr Olender. The DEM morons ruining the City will not lower the property taxes. Except on Death Ray's friend and family club. They look for more spending projects and more nonprofit handouts. This lady has to give away a business she built up with hard work because of DEM over taxation and fiscal incompetence.
