Exactly! But the gazette's article made no sense and left a lot of unanswered questions! If business is so good, why sell the business? Name and all? If business was so good, why were there no other employees? The article stated that the owner was going to 'expand'. Where? In the city of Schenectady?

The Gazetto "news" was a failed attempt to spin the story {broken here} of another Downtown business fleeing. Follow the Mayor out stage left? Smoking/DVR was called upon to further muddy the water.

My guess is the restaurant is not very profitable, but is "just" surviving.

Catering she could actually make money at...

Lower overhead if she works out of her residence - not sure if she will, as there might be Health Department rules against that...

And no spoilage as she only buys ingredients for what she sells.

It's a little hard to deny something when it's posted on every commercial real estate notice. So they cook up this nonsense. Further evidence that the "renaissance" is for the DEM Friends and Family club only.

If someone across from Proctor's is not getting a bounce who is? Meanwhile the oppressed City taxpayers are waiting for any Metrograft dividend. No jobs, no property value increases but the salaries and benes for Death Ray and Co keep going up.

I recall that afew years ago that business had a stick up or robbery too. I think she got accosted as she was leaving with the daily proceeds.

The DEMS are spinning this like loaded dreidels because it explodes the "All Is Well" mantra. A bistro across from Proctor's is for sale for $85,000. Death Ray strikes again! Nothing but empty storefronts after he weaves his magic.

It's unequal competition . They pay more in rent than Bombers pays in taxes-for a 3 story building which just added a roof top bar. Nobody wants to talk about the parking inequality. Nobody wants to talk about the PILOT inequality. They want to talk about plummeting tax receipts.

Gee, when marcella's was 'threatening' to move out, the plex jumped in and gave them the farm. I guess this business isn't worthy, huh?

Good move on the owners part. She will do much better out of the county.

What part of  - "the owner said the business is doing well but she wants to move on and focus on catering instead"  do you not understand ??????????????????

The fact is you folks are a bunch of pathological liars and hate-mongers.

Fact  - Downtown is better today than it was 7 years ago -- when a Republican ran the city and Republicans were running the county.

Fact - Proctor's and Metroplex is a big part of that success story --- and Republicans are only to happy to claim that they helped make Proctor's and Metroplex successful WHEN THEY ARE IN OFFICE .. but then blame the Democrats for them (as a political ploy) when they (GOP) are out of office trying to get back in.

Of course -- Republicans like Hugh and Bob Farley will speak out of both sides of their mouths in the same conversation .. blasting metroplex and then taking credit for anything good it has done -- but then they are shameless political whores.

Apparently - all you folks have been dead wrong about  a lot happening downtown ---
proof that you are wrong --1) Proctor's does generate business for downtown business as cited by the business owner in this article.    2) she is not selling because downtown is dead and has no business .. she clearly states she is busy but wants to focus on catering and other interests

So once again -- the nattering nayboobs of negativity are proven wrong.

OK, DV. for some reason you refuse to answer this.  Tell us what all the tax money given to the millionaires has done for the city?

Tell us what has happened to homeowners property taxes.
Tell us what city services have been ADDED in return for higher taxes.
Tell us what has happened to the number of vacant and abandoned houses in the city
Tell us what has happened to the crime rate.
Tell us what has happened to trash collection since all this spending
Tell us how many high paid employees at DOT and that other agency, have bought houses in the city.  (I'm not talking about typists)
Tell us how many times a snow emergency has been declared since plexy really got off the ground.

And, before you say "it has improved," provide some documentation to support your answers to the above questions

With the upcoming election, you're going to see candidates pull the property tax records for Downtown and the Metroplex audit. The voters are going to feel the huge slap in the face when they find out that businesses like Villa Italia, Bombers and Marcella's are making small PILOT payments for decades while tax evading the amounts they are responsible for. The voters are going to realize that millions of dollars have been thrown away (cleaning out the Big N lot, buying million dollar buildings which remain vacant). And the 'job creation' the Plex has taken credit for will be proven false.

The cheerleading from the peanut gallery will be silenced. The public will have the facts and the current leadership better get a sweet deal like Stratton because after this, they'll be asking Morris for an apron and mop at the Apostrophe.

DV, Metroplex was indeed a republican initiative, however the republicans NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER planned on having the financially struggling homeowners pay the taxes for all the millionaires.

The republicans planned this extra little bit of sales tax to fix up these buildings.  The republican version of Metroplex was NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER planned to have all these properties 100% and more tax exempt WITH NO END SIGHT.    The PROOF for you, Mr DV, the PROOF is by looking at the OFFICIAL records - places like MVP and the DOT buildiing have  PARTIAL....can you read...a PARTIAL tax exemption WITH AN END DATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    But since your socialist democrats took over, they have been giving out total 100% tax exemptions WITH NO END DATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!     And DON'T......DON'T YOU DARE throw in those PILOTs alleged by your Gillen buddy.  Those pilots are only a TINY MINUTE FRACTION of what the full tax bill would be.  And the pilots will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER be anywhere NEAR what the full tax bill would be.  And your crony dumocrats have fixed it so the millionaires will NEVER pay property and school taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    Have you bothered to look at the OFFICIAL RECORDS???????    Can you please explain what it means when the box for the "End date" for a 100% tax exemption is left blank????????

And DV, why don't you explain the pilot for the bomber gin mill.  Explain WHY your buddy Gillen proudly proclaims they are paying a roughly $8,000 PILOT when in reality, the FACT that they are being given  a 150% tax exemption which the 50% exemption is paid for by the taxpayers which is roughly the equivalent of the PILOT.....Therefore, the PROOF, DV, is that the taxpayers are paying the bomber gin mill PILOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa there MC1!!!!!

I wouldn't be too quick to pump up the reps. Perhaps they did have honorable plans for the plex at it's inception. But don't be too quick to think that they wouldn't have done the same thing........except with THEIR chosen few!!! And that is why the plex needs to be abolished NOW!!!

Get the government and the taxpayer's money out of the business of creating businesses. That should be left solely up to private businesses. It is the governments job to provide a safe and healthy environment. Maintained roads/infrustructure. And low taxes. And an area of residents that can afford to support new businesses. And a good school system! THAT IS THEIR ONLY JOB!!

Abolish the plex and make it the #1 election issue! Don't vote for anyone who supports and wants the plex to continue!!

Creperie on the market
Marv Cermak

Chez Daisie Creperie, a popular Jay Street pedestrian mall bistro, is listed for sale at $85,000.
Owner Joann Sifo, who opened the place in 2005, said she reached her goal of establishing a successful downtown business. Her plan is to enter the catering field.
Sifo leases creperie space. The sale price is for the business name, good will and some equipment and furnishings.
Chez Daisie, described in the real estate listing as a "quaint Montreal-style bistro'' is directly across from Proctors.
