SCHENECTADY Owner selling popular Jay Street creperie BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com.
Jay Street’s popular French creperie is for sale — but not because business is slow. Business is so good that owner JoAnne Sifo can’t get away. That’s become a problem, because she wants to branch out, opening a catering business based on her popular line of crepes. She listed Chez Daisie for sale Wednesday, asking $85,000 for the business, its name, and most of the kitchen equipment. In an indication of how well she’s doing fi nancially, she’s offering to hold the mortgage for the prospective owner. “I’ve been very fortunate. We made money right from the get-go. We never had that two-year layover most restaurants have to try to break even,” she said. But there’s not enough space in the small kitchen to run both the restaurant and the catering — and she can’t do both even if there was plenty of room. “I’m only one person,” she said. “I just really can’t do both. Chez Daisie takes up so much of my time.” Her catering business is already attracting interest, including inquiries from Union College, where she could cater events at the student union, she said. She’s already designed “finger crepes” and dips with humorous names. “We’re really gearing it toward a younger crowd,” she said....................>>>>...........................>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00505&AppName=1
The Gazetto never reads this board-lol. Read it here today or in the Gazetto {maybe} days later.
As always, thanks Benny for reporting what the Gazetto should.
Also, if this location is doing so well, why isn't the owner hiring more staff instead of selling the business? If it's truly a 'goldmine' as the Gazetto is touting, why is the owner fleeing?
Moore either failed to ask or the owner didn't say if they were looking to relocate elsewhere in the city of schenectady! And why hasn't the owner hired employees if the business was growing??

No one ever says: "Buy my business, it loses money." or :business sucks."

Exactly! But the gazette's article made no sense and left a lot of unanswered questions! If business is so good, why sell the business? Name and all? If business was so good, why were there no other employees? The article stated that the owner was going to 'expand'. Where? In the city of schenectady?

Apparently - all you folks have been dead wrong about a lot happening downtown --- proof that you are wrong --1) Proctor's does generate business for downtown business as cited by the business owner in this article. 2) she is not selling because downtown is dead and has no business .. she clearly states she is busy but wants to focus on catering and other interests
So once again -- the nattering nayboobs of negativity are proven wrong.
