ROTTERDAM
Board reaches deal on hiring lawyers for town
BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Members of the Town Board appear to have reached a compromise to end a spat over hiring Rotterdam’s legal representation.
Board members are expected to pass a trio of resolutions during tonight’s meeting that will return Town Attorney Joseph Liccardi to his previous title, re-instate Bryan Goldberger as Rotterdam’s labor attorney and hire the Albanybased law firm of Daniels and Porco on a more limited basis. Supervisor Frank Del Gallo said consensus was reached on the resolutions during the agenda meeting Monday.
Under the resolutions, Goldberger will earn about $175 per hour to represent the town in labor negotiations, which was the rate he was earning before being dismissed last month. Daniels and Porco will receive $49,900 per year for the next two years to help with other town business, Del Gallo said.
“Everybody will get some work out of it,” he said Tuesday.
Last month, board members Wayne Calder, Nicola DiLeva and Matt Martin abruptly passed a set of resolutions hiring Daniels and Porco at a salary of $138,500 per year. They also backed a move to categorize Town Attorney Joseph Liccardi as a deputy to the new firm and promptly terminating Goldberger.
Del Gallo and Godlewski both balked at the moves and refused to support them. Later, Del Gallo pledged he would execute his right as the town’s chief fi nancial officer in refusing to sign a contract with Daniels and Porco, claiming the three board members violated a purchasing policy that states any service over $50,000 must be put out to bid.
Del Gallo said the lower amount outlined in the new resolution means hiring Daniels and Porco won’t be at odds with the purchasing policy. Also, he said the taxpayers won’t have to pay as much for the town’s legal services.
“They’re going to do less work, but they’re going to do the work we want done,” he said. “We got a better deal for the tax payers.”
Contacted Tuesday, Calder said he’s amenable to the solution, though he’s still not convinced it will mean a savings to the town. The town needs to work out contracts with the Rotterdam Police Benevolent Association and the local CSEA unit. .....................>>>>...................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01101&AppName=1

From what I understand Atty. Goldberger will do what's best for Hitler and Napoleon, not whats best for
the Town of Rotterdam.

Election year + PBA contract = endorsements

Ask any town CSEA employee what they think of the PBA contract.

So Hamilton's hand picked attorneys are signed through this election cycle?  Would they be responsible for the police contract negotiatins, or the "other town business" as FDG put it?

Where is she? She may need to explain this to the Rotterdam Republican Committee if she wants their endorsement.

"Everybody will get some work out of it," stated FDG. No truer statement has ever been uttered. With this crew the entire County Bar will have work.

Yer kidding right? It was ND and the other counter parts of the three muskateers that voted in favor of Daniels/Porco....when in fact, rotterdam already had attorneys in place.

Just in time for the 'cop contract'!! Thank you ND, MM and WC..........and I'm sure it was supported by TJ Hooker.

Guess FDG really does know what's going on! Dumb as a fox!!

Hamilton chooses nothing for FDG...Goldberger has been the labor attorney for many years now...so he will negotiate labor
contracts...although there is supposed to be a limit on the amounts paid to each firm.

She is...she was the one who demanded a cap on their payouts...and made it clear she would not vote for them without it...so
they all agreed...even Wayne Calder said this was the equivalent of issuing a blank check...but he voted for it anyway in her
absence....even after I went to the podium to remind him of his own statements when the cap was missing from the resolution.

Unfortunately ND was unable to attend due to illness...and you can bet she is livid over their failure to honor the agreement
of a cap on these expenditures.

Nice try Cicero
