You could maintain the current building for 400 years before reaching that $10 Million price tag. It's certainly NOT a cost savings and there is ZERO return on the investment.  Would the $10 Million reduce crime?  Don't think so.   It's a giveaway to the property owner via the anticipated/hopeful takeover of Rotterdam by the copservacrats.

It appears the republican canidates are against this idea. As an independent this issue is very important to me. I don't want to see our town spending this kind of money, especially at this time. If the Dems don't reconsider prior to the election my vote will go Republican across the board.

The police chief's special interest group is backing every single democrap candidate down the line (as usual) so yes they are FOR the taj Mahal police station. But they will say things like "It is important to research this" and "we need to investigate this" without making the verbal commitment before the election. Then after they get in they will ruthlessly push their anti-taxpayer, pro-special interest agenda at all costs and give you the middle finger as they vote "aye."

the folks of rotterdam knew that if they voted against the REMS taxing district.......they would STILL have ambulance service.

I am NOT anyone's spokesperson and  .. more importantly .. I have NEVER publicly or privately supported the old Grand Union site for the new police station.   I have stated on several occasions that a new police station is needed and have expressed my support for building it as part of a new municipal center on the site of the town-owned Curry Road Shopping Plaza.   I believe it is a mistake for the town to purchase the old Grand Union building -- I have stated it here .. I have stated it in other venues  .. it is - at the least - an election year stunt by the current supervisor and deputy supervisor.

HB was a REMS taxing district scam supporter. Just like he is and will be, if elected as rotterdam super, a supporter of a public safety building that will cost the taxpayers millions and millions of dollars!!! HB is supported by the entire dem-o-conservative parties which means the entire slate, if elected will try to shove this multi-million dollar tax increase down the throats of the rotterdamians!!! And it would appear that WC will follow suit!

So again like the city of schenectady, the rotterdam taxpayers paid to support a private gin mill and bank, while crime increased, while blight is obvious, while there is a hamilton hill at rotterdam's door step, while the infrastructure(Broadway) isn't maintained, while in the end, rotterdam will not be able to pay their bill either without the als funding that was included in the budget!! NEXT....schools that can't graduate 50% of their students!!  

And this is what you rotterdamians will get IF you vote for a dem-o-conservative!! You already have the proof right in front of your faces!!!

The Republicans don't want a new police station --- because McGarry has said that he will unilaterally abolish the police department if he is elected.    


If the Republicans get their way, they will let go of all the civil service employees ...  turn off the traffic signals  (the power to run them costs too much)  -- and turn off the power to the water plant and sewage treatment plant.

Mertz - you were NOT present at the meeting -- I heard McGarry say that the first things he would do as Town Supervisor would be to tear up the contracts with the public employees unions and disband the police department.     Of course, he is denying that now .. because he doesn't want the voters to know how bizarre his intentions really are.

Oh -- and there were fewer than 10 people at that meeting -- and the only Democrat there was me -- and I everyone of the other folks were NNTP people or Republicans ... not a single "dem supporter" in the group.

Unless -- McGarry and the guy who ran for County Leg are really Dem supporters.
