Re March 1 editorial, “Who’s best choice for interim mayor in Schenectady”: Schenectady is now facing Chicago’s problem of losing their talented and successful Mayor [Richard] Daley, by losing their skilled and experienced Brian Stratton. What to do until a new one can be elected? Your suggestion that the current director of operations, Sharon Jordan, should be the acting mayor is excellent. (Back in the 1970s, I was lucky to be Sharon’s partner in Democratic committee work for the 11th District. This was back when the Democrats were able to win the whole City Council while Frank Duci became the fi rst “new” elected mayor.) Sharon always knew where the real problems were, and how to apply effective political and governmental efforts to fix them. These skills were well recognized when Brian picked Sharon as a real urban manager. Watching her applying these skills while the economic problems grow has saved Schenectady a lot of the misery that other places have suffered. If she is willing to delay retirement until the “elected” mayor is replaced, more people will be happy — including me. DANIEL PERRIN Scotia
I guess McCarthy is another Rahm Emanuel? Baby Chicago is on the money. Another corrupt one party DEM town that stinks from long term DEM incompetence. Mr. Perrin was smart enough to flee the DEM high taxes that he continues to cheer from afar.
An article in yesterday's gazetto, schenectady was being compared to TROY-LET. Today it's being compared to the likes of Chicago.
