Actually, it's true that all Altamont Ave is now is businesses that have been shifted around. First, you have a business leaving (Dunkin Donuts) which moved up to Curry Road. That was replaced in it's previous location by Pizza Hut Delivery, which itself is another shift from their sit-down location. That same sit-down location is now a used car dealer. We do a lot of just shifting things around in this town, and then there isn't really much of a change over time. Hopefully it won't take much time to backfill the empty bank in Hannaford Plaza.
That, along with the bar (Scarborough's) moving out to a backstreet up in Latham (that's right, it's not on ANY main strip, where it's moving up there. Guess being on a back road is better than staying in Schenectady County).
The fact is that Pioneer Savings bank is building a BRANCH plus office space for one of its departments that is now located at its company HQ .. it is not just shifting locations --- its executive said quite clearly that it needs the larger new branch because of the business it is generating in Rotterdam.
Meanwhile, you, kelly and the other NNNs whine and complain because you and your partisans can't take any credit for the good things happening in Rotterdam or Schenectady County.

First of all, I don't see any of these "good things happening in Rotterdam or Schenectady County." Maybe that's your point of view, but it's not mine. I am myself, I don't have partisans. I believe what I believe, and I don't need people to tell me what I think. This is not the case, however, for all people.
We could (and did) go on for a long time about all the things that have gone down the wrong way. When I see something that deserves credit, I will give it, and I will give credit to the appropriate party.

But DV, it STILL leaves an EMPTY property this time in Hannaford Plaza. Moving from one place to another when the former location remains empty---and they remain empty for YEARS---does not "add" anything to the town. Businesses either move to a different location, or they leave completely, or something new comes in (like that Recovery) but the "new" is virtually always tied to the taxpayers footing a chunk of the bill.
Tell us DV, how long has the old dental place in Hannaford been vacant? How long as the billards place been vacant? How about that space that had the Label Shopper, how long has that been vacant?
When will these above locations become occupied??????
What is supposed to go into the current Pioneer bank location? When? Months? Years? What is supposed to go into the former video store location? When? Months? Years? What is supposed to go into the AJ Wright store location? When? Months? Years? What is supposed to go into Scarboroughs Locaation? When? Months?
I see that place called Citi Trends is there, I think in the former CVS location. How long will that last, DV? How long? Tell us how long that Catherines clothing store lasted. How long DV??????
What is in that plaza DV? Goodwill - cheap second hand stuff. Game Stop - nothing more than a pawn shop. Dollar store. Walmart. Rent-a-center. AJ Wright was what kind of store? H&R BLock. What kind of people do these attract? Do people with good incomes rent from rent-a-center? Or is it welfare that does that? Who goes to H&R BLock? People that are getting tax "refunds" in amounts greater than what they paid in who are too lazy to follow a Turbo tax thing and don't want to used the services intended for low income people --- the low class people who want those refund anticipation loans on whatever day in January they get their W2.
Look at Niskayuna there by Balltown Rd. What cheapo stores do they have there? What percent of buildings there is vacant?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I don't know what's supposed to go in at this location, but I can tell you that there has been work going on at this location. They have been at least working on the inside, don't know what they're working towards, if it's new owners or the old owners setting up for a planned business, or just trying to clean it up to make it look better for a possible new tenant.
...and oh, by the way, the rubble still sits at the Edgewood location, when the full lot at the former 4 Corners Pizzaria has been cleaned up and looks ready to be rebuilt on again. Too bad they didn't take down the eyesore on the corner at the same time.
