I, the party of the first part (“the ruler”), promise:
(1) To stipulate how much of your money you will hand over to me, as well as how, when, and where the transfer will be made. You will have no effective say in the matter, aside from pleading for my mercy, and if you should fail to comply, my agents will punish you with fines, imprisonment, and (in the event of your persistent resistance) death.
(2) To make thousands upon thousands of rules for you to obey without question, again on pain of punishment by my agents. You will have no effective say in determining the content of these rules, which will be so numerous, complex, and in many cases beyond comprehension that no human being could conceivably know about more than a handful of them, much less their specific character, yet if you should fail to comply with any of them, I will feel free to punish you to the extent of a law made my me and my confederates.
(3) To provide for your use, on terms stipulated by me and my agents, so-called public goods and services. Although you may actually place some value on a few of these goods and services, most will have little or no value to you, and some you will find utterly abhorrent, and in no event will you as an individual have any effective say over the goods and services I provide, notwithstanding any economist’s cock-and-bull story to the effect that you “demand” all this stuff and value it at whatever amount of money I choose to expend for its provision.
(4) In the event of a dispute between us, judges beholden to me for their appointment and salaries will decide how to settle the dispute. You can expect to lose in these settlements, if your case is heard at all.
In exchange for the foregoing government “benefits,” you, the party of the second part (“the subject”), promise:
(5) To shut up, make no waves, obey all orders issued by the ruler and his agents, kowtow to them as if they were important, honorable people, and when they say “jump,” ask only “how high?”
Such a deal! Can we really imagine that any sane person would consent to it?
Listen DVR, I own two businesses in Schenectady and one on Altamont Ave. Nobody offered me Metroplex money to do WHAT I WANTED. Why should a bank get that money when in fact they are already located on the street. That's BS.
Did you apply for Metroplex $$ ?? They don't just come and hand it out. And as I said - I do not know know if Metroplex money is involved in the project -- but it is a good project -- so if it is involved... I don't have a problem with it.

What St. Augustine had to say about what we now call government:
"A gang is a group of men under the command of a leader, bound by a compact of association, in which the plunder is divided according to an agreed convention. If this villainy wins so many recruits from the ranks of the demoralized that it acquires territory, establishes a base, captures cities and subdues peoples, it then openly arrogates to itself the title of kingdom, which is conferred on it in the eyes of the world, not by the renunciation of aggression, but by the attainment of impunity"
Your Choices in the Political arena: Indeed, the plunder has become so common, and the plunderers so smug and self-confident, that their predations are taken for granted, and the thieves themselves treated with extraordinary deference! It is something akin to the Stockholm syndrome. You encounter the same mugger at the same spot every day, and eventually establish a sort of bizarre relationship with him----even, eventually, thanking him for not taking more. When you are given the opportunity to replace him with another mugger, you vote for the incumbent---sticking with the devil you know, unless his opponent offers to share more of his loot with you. Your assessment of the economic future of the United States and the West should focus on the list of ten virtues of the free society. There are large segments of the elite that do not see them as virtues except when overseen by government-empowered, academically certified experts.
What is happening in the Middle East indicates that millions of people have had enough. The attitude of Americans toward a government shutdown indicates that they have also had enough . . . before any pain from a shutdown actually sets in, anyway. The fact that legislatures are ready to confront the public employee unions indicates that the last remaining stronghold of union power is about to end.
Where we are clearly losing is in monetary policy. Dishonest money is still undermining the middle class. Until that battle has ended in favor of the enforcement of contracts, the abolition of legal tender laws, and the abolition of central banking, the middle class will be on the defensive.
Conclusion: end the FED.

The funny thing is that I dont use any of these banks. It makes no sense. If you want to boost the economy, why arent you building places where people can go for a meal or to shop. Places where people spend their money. Oh and included in that are places where they give back to the community instead of taking from it.
Truth is, people cant afford it. Whats the use of another bank when people dont have any money to put into it? People around here live paycheck to paycheck. At the end of the month, IF all the bills are paid, then maybe some fun. I dont know what that is because I cant afford it. .

I don't know if the bank got anything from Metroplex -- if it did .. I don't have a problem with that because that is what Metroplex is for ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
If you folks don't like Metroplex -- then go cry on someone else's shoulder because I couldn't care less what you naysayers have to say.
So, your definition of economic development is to take the hard earned money from the working people and use it to create yet another empty building in Hannaford Plaza. Homeowners need their money to fix up their own homes, but you prefer that homeowners don't fix up their homes by taking their money from them and using it to move employees from one location to a few hundred feet away. And traffic wise it's so much better where it is in Hannaford Plaza. Never having to go out in the traffic tie-ups on Altamont Ave.
And you call all this spending of taxpayer money as economic development????? Gee, what has this "economic development" done for Schenectady city? Huh?
I would think that economic development is supposed to make things better.
Tell us DV, tell us what economic development has done to the property and school taxes of the people in Schenectady???????? Huh??????? Can you answer that?????
Tell us DV, tell us what economic development has done to the crime rate in Schenectady???????? Huh??????? Can you answer that?????
Tell us DV, tell us what economic development has done to the property values of the people in Schenectady???????? Huh??????? Can you answer that?????
Tell us DV, tell us what economic development has done to the property and school taxes of the people in Schenectady???????? Huh??????? Can you answer that?????
Tell us DV, please show us what economic development has done to home sales in the city. Can you answer that??????
Tell us DV, please show us numbers, show us how, because of all this economic development, show us the numbers of how many people bought houses in Schenectady city in order to become owner occupants. Can you show us that??????
YOU are the one who claims this spending of tax money is good for the people. Please explain how.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
If you folks don't like Metroplex -- then go cry on someone else's shoulder because I couldn't care less what you naysayers have to say.
Oh we are dvr........we are!!!! The plex issue just might be a deciding factor on who gets elected and who doesn't.

That is a lot of BS .. you can praise and support any business. If you don't want to go to the Recovery Room or the Berkshire Bank --- WHO CARES ??? no one ... quit whining and actually do something to move your community forward.
Well, gee, I guess I CARE! And there are others that care, and others that WOULD care if they actyally knew what was going on. As far as if I don't want to go somewhere, don't, that's exactly what I will do. I have tried to do things to move my community forward, including speaking up at both county and town meetings as far as the disregard that the administrations have for the taxpayers. I have done this during both Republican (town) and Democrat (town and county) administrations.
If someone says something that you don't like, it's considered whining? Maybe that's why it's your point of view that the way to win an argument with people is to call them names (not saying this was to me, but you definitely have on this site). I don't stoop to that.
You are right, though, I can praise and support any business. The only problem is that through the Metroplex, I can NOT REFUSE to give my money, which is handed over by people that don't represent me, to people that I wish not to have it. That means that as a taxpayer, I HAVE TO support specific business. That doesn't mean I have to support them.
Taxpayer money should not be used to help move local businesses around from one place to another. It should be used to attract business that is not here now, and I don't mean from Albany County to Schenectady County. How about attracting businesses from the Buffalo/Rochester area or downstate that are not in the Capital District but would benefit the area with divesity and alternate choices or new slections that are not available now. Even better yet, how about going after business from out of state that we don't have. That creates new opportunities, jobs, growth, and competition. And when other businesses see these moves, they may also be interested in moving into/back into NY from Ga, SC, NC, MN, AL, TX, etc. It's not rocket science!!!!
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
The only problem with that is that it would require some people giving up some of their power. Also, you won't get new businesses to come into New York until the cost of doing business decreases to the same as doing it in other places.
