As they say, hindsight is 20/20, but a little over a year after Steve Tommasone and his administration were driven out of Rotterdam Town Hall in favor of “change” and “revitalization,” it appears the voters got change, but was it the change they expected? The dysfunction that has characterized this “revitalization” is unprecedented. Then-Supervisor Tommasone and then-town GOP Chairman Gerard Parisi were criticized by political operatives and this newspaper [Oct. 22, 2009 editorial]. In another editorial, Parisi was accused of “ratting her out” for doing his job and turning over information to state authorities showing notary abuse by the beloved [Town Clerk] Eunice Esposito [Feb. 10 editorial]. Now, after she has collected $55,000 (without showing up to work), everyone is in agreement with Mr. Parisi. If he had been listened to earlier, the town would have saved $55,000. Further, Mr. Parisi forewarned town residents during the election that [Supervisor Frank] DelGallo was uniquely unqualified for the job. Now, everyone, Republican and Democrat alike, completely agrees! I’m not expecting to hear any apologies, since this is local politics, but I’m quite certain one is deserved. Rotterdam needs to get back on track and fast! Tommasone’s administration wasn’t perfect, but none is. He did his job and he did it very well. Over fi ve years, he kept taxes flat. And Parisi’s one-year tenure as a Town Board member last year was impeccable. Perhaps they should both re-enter public service to put Rotterdam back on track!
FRANK S. SALAMONE Rotterdam The writer is committeeman for the town of Rotterdam Republican Committee.
Frank you forgot to mention that Steve kept taxes flat by raiding the general fund he left nearly depleted....and that no one ever knew what he was talking about by the time his long winded dissertations finally ended.
Recycling st or gp will only continue to keep rotterdam in the political status quo. HOWEVER..............rotterdam's present liberal socialist dem administration couldn't shine the last administration's shoes.
Rotterdam needs new names, new faces, new ideas!!!

Kelly didnt seem to mind when her golden girl ND cut into the fund balance...It must be nice to waiver back and forth like.......
From what I hear.....ND is a non-issue in rotterdam.

GP, how sad is it that you and ST are so desperate as to draft a letter to the editor and have this poor kid put his name on it. Really sad.
Now you know why nobody takes this boy seriously.
As for giving ST credit for keeping the tax rate flat, don't let facts get in the way of your attempt to make ST/GP look conservative.
All you have to do is look at every single tentative budget that ST ever put forward and payments to GP during ST's admin. Want proof dummy? It's called a FOIL request and you can submit it on the second floor here in town hall. No, Gerard, I'm not doing the work for you - you're not my boss anymore.
first of all im not gp second of all.......last i checked tentative budgets don't matter....ACTUAL BUDGETS DO MATTER! ANd instead of being a douchelicker like FDG ST actually involved the members of the board in the process of what to cut instead of doing it in secret in the man cave...
Yea, right. If "actual budgets" matter, then who cares what FDG did in his man cave, because his budget was NOT the actual budget!
ND/GP budget was the actual budget and God know what they were doing in his/your man cave. Only thing people need to know is that your budget the "actual" budget raised taxes, raided the reserves AND inflated revenues. It's pretty sad when someone who says he's a cpa uses voo-doo econimics and still raises taxes.

But the three musketeers came to the rescue???? That's a joke! The people had NO input whatsoever on where their money was being spent. At least FDG didn't drain rotterdam's reserve. And the three musketeers included als funding with is already almost 3 months in the red.
All FIVE of them are not worth the drive to a polling site!!!!!

ND is a non issue and so is Frank Salamone....ST.Mertz and GP is is unfortuante that you so slandered FDG when he was running. People don't like incivility. The Salamone kid is just that a kid. FDG has enough money to blow all of you away as I recall.
Yeah FDG just wanted to drain our personal reserves...he's a real swell guy!!!
He's not rotterdam's sharpest tool in the shed, but folks perceive him as being more honest and yes, even less political. The three musketeers is your 'rotterdam politics as usual' bunch!!
