The new legal team will actually do what they are paid to do. The town attorneys work for ALL of the town board and the various boards and commissions --- unless separate legal counsel is provided. As chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission, I can tell you that I have been waiting for up to 13 months for answers to simple questions regarding issues before our commission. The only way to get answers seems to be to look them up yourself or seek outside assistance.
The three musketeers pulled the wool over the taxpayer's eyes. There were no bids. There was no public discussion. They bitched and moaned about '2 men in a room'...........now rotterdam has 'the 3 musketeers' a room. Brilliant!! |

Great job on the FOIL requests Mr. Hall! No records of any fuel transactions? ROTFLMAO!! Than one day later-oops there were several tax free transactions! But no records? Did you actually check this out or just say there are no records? These County DEMS are beyond pathetic. Bravo to the Spotlight-stay on this latest DEM fiasco.
NO RECORDS!!!!! How does the taxpayer know if the fueL went to some city or county workers or their family, or their friends?? Slick move, huh? |

Only one polling site -- vote scheduled in December --- procedures for the vote so unclear and poorly handled that there were long lines and cause a good number to walk away --- not putting up ALL of the relevant information that I know was available to them --- those are just a few examples
The referendum is being conducted the same way that referendums for sewer districts or water districts are conducted. It is perfectly legal.

That is why I believe we must finally have the referendum - with a clear choice -> Yes for the tax district and REMS or NO -against the tax district and sent it out to bid. Whatever the decision is -- as far as I am concerned -- the issue will be settled.
There are other aspects of the referendum that are troubling .. timing - could have been better -- but if we keep delaying the issue will never be resolved. Absentee ballots - I was told there was a way to have them but it requires the voter to pre-register at town hall for the absentee ballot.

State law does not allow towns to provide their residents with fire protection as a municipal function. Instead, fire protection is provided either by a fire district or through creation of a fire protection district. There are about 1,850 fire suppression or prevention organizations and over 114,000 firefighters in the state, including over 96,000 volunteer firefighters. The fire district system was established in the 1932, by the State Legislature as a means of insuring adequate fire protection throughout the state. Some 800 fire districts were established, primarily around the existing volunteer companies, which were originally established to protect rural villages with horse drawn apparatus.
do all those pancake breakfasts support our firehouses??? our budget is for $37,000....Is that the total collected from our tax bills? |

I see that MT purposefully ignored my posts where I expressed concerns about only having 1 polling site and the other concerns that I had.
He or she -- or it -- chose to only take a couple of out of context quotes. For example, it was legal to allow only property owners to vote -- which is what I was referring to. But I also said that it was a bad idea not to allow absentee ballots -- which was legal but just too much work for them (the supervisor and deputy supervisor)to do.
The fact is that the supervisor and the deputy supervisor were against not only the tax district but REMS from Day #1. I would say more on the subject -- but I am holding my best "ammunition" for the fall campaign. |
