Police are following leads on a man who robbed Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, New York, shortly after midnight Tuesday.

No one was injured in the robbery. A safe was stolen during the robbery, said Matthew Mazzone, chief operating office of Mazzone Management Group, the restaurant family whose holdings include Glen Sanders.

He said reports by media outlets stating that the night clerk was tied up are untrue. The clerk was not injured and guests were never in jeopardy, he said.

“We’re thankful that everyone is safe,” Mazzone said.

He declined further comment.

Bizjournals said no employees were involved or injured -

Mazzone's quote was:

But,  even the TU is reporting the clerk was injured:

SCOTIA -- Detectives are questioning a man about the robbery early Tuesday at the Glen Sanders Mansion, village police confirm.

No charges have been filed, but Sgt. Dan Thouin said they were speaking with the man Tuesday afternoon.

At about 1:15 a.m., two men in ski masks barged into the famed catering hall, restaurant and hotel and wrestled the night clerk to the floor, Thouin said.

The men made off with an unknown amount of cash and a small safe, police said, adding that the safe was empty.

The clerk suffered minor injuries. He was treated at a local hospital.

Schenectady and Glenville police also are involved in the investigation. Police said officers found a vehicle in Schenectady that they believe was used in the heist.

SCOTIA
Man charged in Glen Sanders heist

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Scotia police arrested a 34-yearold Schenectady man Tuesday in connection with an early morning strong-arm robbery at the Glen Sanders Mansion.
Charged with second-degree robbery was Warren Williams, of 1333 First Ave., Scotia police said. He was arraigned and sent to Schenectady County Jail. The investigation is continuing, with further charges to follow. The location and identification of other suspects continues, police said.
Sgt. Daniel Thouin said investigators are following leads in connection with the heist. He said Schenectady police have identified a vehicle that may have been involved in the case and Scotia investigators have identifi ed several individuals for questioning.
“We’ve got people of interest, let’s put it that way,” he said Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a pair of suspects in ski masks entered the mansion around 1:15 a.m. and forced the night clerk to the fl oor demanding money. They made off with an undetermined amount of cash and the clerk’s wallet. The robbers also stole a steel drop safe from the building. Thouin said the safe was believed to be empty.
The clerk was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Thouin said the robbers did not display weapons or imply they had any during the heist.
Glenville and Schenectady police are assisting in the investigation.
Glen Sanders is the headquarters of the Mazzone Management Group, a catering business established by noted local restaurateur Angelo Mazzone. In addition to the mansion, Mazzone Management oversees Aperitivo Bistro, a wine bar next-door to Proctors in Schenectady, and Angelo’s 677 Prime, a steakhouse and wine bar in Albany’s theater district.
The company owns and operates Prime at Saratoga National, at the Saratoga National Golf Club, and holds a multimillion-dollar contract to handle food services at the historic Hall of Springs at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. In December 2009, Mazzone’s company secured a deal to cater food services to the roughly 1,300 construction workers building the $4.2 billion GlobalFoundaries computer chip plant at the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Malta. The company also caters to the new Golub headquarters in Schenectady and was recently announced as caterer for all events at Proctors’ Key Hall in the city. ....................>>>>....................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01502&AppName=1
