Quoted from Mr. Majestyk
One wonders what the Lion King vistors think as they travel on poorly maintained roads leading into the city,(Union St. Elmer Ave.-Nott Terrace), boarded up/run down houses (Eastern Ave.),blight (State St.) and lets not forget the plethora of For Sale signs dotting the landsacape and poor conditions of so many neighborhoods.   All of the previous UNDENIABLE facts.   Do they ask themselves where is the renacisance?  Or say, we thought the Plex was supposed to improve all of these existing conditions.   Believe no one will buy a home in the city purely based on a downtown.   The prevailing reasons against a serious consideration to purchase always comes down to the high taxes, Police Dept. issues, and the School Dept. fisaco.   And throw in the conditions of the neighborhoods.   Never once have I heard the Downtown miracle being mentioned as a reason to buy a home here.

Mr. M is spot on. Schenectady residents see the blight everyday and it's only getting worse - but unfortunately, it's our reality. When outsiders see the empty houses, travel the unplowed/pothole ridden streets, hear of the shootings and robberies - they lock their cars, run into Proctors and immediately leave the City after the show. They're not staying in Schenectady for 5 minutes longer then they have too.

They run to their cars after the show. They can't get out of Downtown fast enough. I'm still waiting for the first person to buy a home to be near Proctor's. It's like helping small business by installing new curbs, benches and bike paths.

A fantasy land created by clueless DEMS. There is no trickle down affects and no dividends for the taxpayers. Jay St is totally deserted before and after a show. What's the end game for the oppressed County taxpayers?

I'm confused.

A number of downtown merchants, all granted who have gotten perks from Metrograft, say that business is booming during the Lion King.

Benny says people are running to their cars.

I seriously don't know who is right here....

Well, there are still tickets available. Sunday 2/27 at 1:00 pm you can buy a ticket for $105.00 - if you want to bring a friend it's $206. When ordering tickets online it states:

"Proctors is a registered CHARITY and your donation is completely deductible to the full extent of the law"

It's not like your $105 ticket price is enough.

Also no cancellations/no refunds! If you're snowed in-too bad! After spending $206 for yourself your sweetie how many lobster pizza's will you buy? How many watery martini's? A State St restaurant had 3 tables booked for dinner the other night-some renaissance. That will not be reported.

At a meeting merchants were yelling at Mercury Morris over this idiotic buffet. BTW, the first night bombed. If they sell a lot of tickets-great for Disney but the taxpayers are still looking for a crumb. PILOT/ What PILOT? That's for millionaire private companies-lol.

Benny,

I'd appreciate more details on this "meeting".

Where and when was it?
What was the purpose of this meeting?
Who was in attendance?
Was Morris really there?
What did the merchants say?
How did you hear all of this?
Where did you get information that the first night bombed?
Define "bombed"?

Forgive the questions but no one else is coming up with this stuff...  The TU isn't reporting it, neither is WRGB.  I'd just like to understand how "real" all of the above is.  (Versus being hyperbole)

If 440 State is sold to a private company-GREAT! Proctor's does not need to own every building on the block-yanking them off the City tax rolls. Key Hall should be put back on the tax rolls-what is it's "educational" purpose?

440 State is empty as all the puppets moved to the Proctor's Arcade. For months we have heard that a sale was imminent-now delayed to summer? As always wait to hear Death Ray's PILOT, tax exemptions and other "considerations". No private business will pay full pop.

All the puppets are now housed at Proctor's. Meanwhile the puppet master Mercury Morris still pulls all the strings. Too bad he fled the Stockade or the City DEM morons could make him "acting" Mayor. First the announcement on 440 State is scheduled for December, then March and in March sometime in summer? This is getting old.

And yes, we care about something going back on the City tax rolls on a paying basis. County residents are tired of paying their freight. Arts Night, a power plant, coffeehouse, catering hall-that's entertainment? Naah-that education.
