Not attacking you just trying to explain to you why spending all the money on just a 2 block area on State St while the rest of the city falls apart may not have been the best way to spend that amount of money.

As for my position on the issue -- when I was actively involved in the Mont Pleasant Action Coalition -- I regularly attended City Council meetings and was one of the persons who fought very hard to keep the $180,000 cdbg grant targeted for Mont Pleasant kept in Mont Pleasant.  I fought the attempt to close the Quakenbush Pool.  I came very close to moving into the city to run for the city council myself.    Mont Pleasant, Bellevue and Hamilton Hill  desperately need some one to give voice to their needs and concerns.

On the other hand- I don't think that we should pit neighborhoods against one another --- I am happy for and relatively pleased with the progress Downtown.     I am happy and pleased when NEEDED improvements are made in any of the neighborhoods of the city  ----  but I am also frustrated and upset that not enough is being done for  the neighborhoods that desperately need attention.

While every City neighborhood crumbles Death Ray/Mercury Morris say "Let them eat ziti"! And the Gazetto promotes the taxpayer funded ziti feed for free.

3 more Crane St businesses are ready to flee. There is nothing left to build on.

A two block section of downtown does not a neighborhood make.

The only source which has pit the neighborhoods against one another is the City and the Metroplex.

There is not one valid reason as to why millions of dollars have been spent for a small section of Downtown, yet the rest of the City has been ignored. Not only is this fiscal incompetence, but it's fraudulent use of the taxpayer money. People who have been in charge of millions of dollars have wasted the opportunity to turn around a City. Instead, they've further placed it into debt and have left neighborhoods with decreasing home values and higher property taxes. This is corruption, pure and simple.

The entire corrupt house is falling down. This is about much more than a few brilliant posters. The entire story will be told and those who misspent public funds must be held accountable.

Everyone can only look away in unison for so long. The attempts to confuse the public with hankuna matata psycho-babble are laughable. Extra! Extra!

there focus has been on more than just 2 blocks  and Downtown is more than just 2 blocks -- and Downtown is considered a neighborhood

Actually, I remember some folks from at least 3 other neighborhoods moaning and complaining -- and trying to stop Mont Pleasant from getting that $180,000 cdbg grant.   One of the neighborhoods has received millions in grants for its projects and it objected to Mont Pleasant even getting some pocket change for new sidewalks.

You really need to walk across Erie Blvd on State Street and report on how the "rebirth" looks. Do it during the day. It looks like a neutron bomb went off over there. Dozens of empty storefronts around another great "accomplishment" Gillen's Gulch! Where his retail shopping mecca was supposed to open. Symbolic for his many failed "plans". The truth is coming out. The DEM morons can't even keep a diner open.

Neither the county nor the party owned or owns a diner -- the diner on Erie Blvd closed on its own ... it was in horrible shape and could not be salvaged.

Mr Gillen has done a great job ---   can't say that for the time when the GOP ran the Metroplex and the County Leg.

You couldn't even run a lemon-aid stand let alone do better than Mr. Gillen.

Well, if that lemonade stand was opened in a taxpayer funded location, empire tax exempt, exempt from paying school and property taxes for decades, received an interest free loan for 12 years and was repayable whenever...well then your right, Gillen is the only one corrupt enough to get away with allowing such a business atrocity.
