respectfully thank you,
i too would like to see contracts limitted to the CPI or some function of CPI max
but i also welcome changes that will make "Rotterdam a nice place to live and work" - because I do and plan to contiunue - thus i am willing to pay for these changes through town initiaves
that being said i support cleaning up our main streets working with our assessment team to ensure accurate inventories, and keeping all properties assessed at a mean value to encourage improvement in the exteriors of all buildings removing all non compliant signs investing in proper curbing and sidewalks investing in all infrastructure - info, electric, sewers, water adopting a rock solid comp plan that is updated every 10 years
YES!!!! also address contracts |

A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes through time in the price level of consumer goods and services purchased by households. The CPI is defined by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics as "a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services."[1]
The CPI is a statistical estimate constructed using the prices of a sample of representative items whose prices are collected periodically. Sub-indexes and sub-sub-indexes are computed for different categories and sub-categories of goods and services, being combined to produce the overall index with weights reflecting their shares in the total of the consumer expenditures covered by the index. It is one of several price indices calculated by most national statistical agencies. The annual percentage change in a CPI is used as a measure of inflation. A CPI can be used to index (i.e., adjust for the effect of inflation) the real value of wages, salaries, pensions, for regulating prices and for deflating monetary magnitudes to show changes in real values. In most countries, the CPI is, along with the population census and the USA National Income and Product Accounts, one of the most closely watched national economic statistics.
get rid of the guaranteed pensions....fork it over to their responsibility simple math there for them....it IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO MANAGE ANYONE'S RETIREMENT FROM THE TOP DOWN.....pensions are just another f'en podium puck that we allow leaders to waste time with all the while a small minority in American find themselves victims of(they chose it of course).......just remove it and move on we allowed the feel-good words of political rhetoric to allow us to vote for legal begals that make laws/regs/mandates etc at our peril.....hello folks!!!! wake up....stop taking the xanax/zoloft/paxil and worrying about the cialis or the kardashians......APATHY KILLS

I agree. I personally don't mind paying when there is a return on it. I have arrived at my current state of mind because there has been very little meaningful progress toward the objectives you've laid out though they've been talked about ad infinitum, all the while with my taxes going for what? The inefficiencies are not acceptable to me. I don't accept the slow pace our government has adopted as the normal pace for getting things done. I didn't run for office by accident. I got frustrated enough not seeing necessary things done in a timely manner. For me, it's always been about far more than just getting taxes under control. |

Removing non compliant signs is not going to rid us of the million pound anchor that are the public employee union contracts that are killing us. Our infrastructure is in a near apocalypse right now. When that union-enriching price tag hits, we will all want to take the bridge. Only 48% of Americans even agree with what the governor of Wisconsin (today's Rasmussen poll) is doing about union largess. Do you know what that means? It means that the public is calmly sitting down and requesting suicide, off a menu which is limited to that along with 2 or 3 other painful choices. So bring on the lethal injections and self-assisted suicide Dr. Kervorkian. Giving the entire shooting match over to the socialists will bring us to a slave state shortly, something I am not going to swallow so readily just because you are angry at a handful of Republicans in your town and want to prove what a great guy you are to the democrat-socialists.
The big question, Mike, is if you are going to back Brian M or not? That is the answer people are waiting to hear. Because if you say you are not backing him because he joined your "bogeyman" evil major party, then we will know you are full of crap. However if you back him despite his being a repub, then we owe you a debt of gratitude. For there is no way the town can continue down this deadly path and we can ill afford to have a vote split just because of your own so-called personal principles of being against the major parties. |

The director took a test to have that job and should have been protected by none other than CC who sold her out so the union could get something else they wanted. The ForMER director was well-educated and deserved more than the money she was making.
Here who is overpaid....Schenectady City school teachers--the children learn NOTHING and cannot compete with surrounding school districts including South Colonie. Also overpaid are those attorneys who can't make it in the real world and have to work for the State or the Assembly/Senate. They know nothing--blog all day and have no stature. Even the former candidate for Governor made that statement and he is a lawyer.
Just ran into a local senior at the CVS (new one) who is furious with the changes at he senior center and in fact was happy with Diane and Molly--interesting statement. She is furious with "King DelGallo" as she stated but will not vote Republican because she doesn't want to go back to the old administration. Interesting comment from this senior. |

GB: That's kind of a loaded, unfair request to ask of Michael to declare. A fairer question is . . . , Is the REP party in step with BM, or are they looking for an easier candidate to endorse? And by easier I would say to control and direct if endorsed. The major issue at this juncture for the Town is to remove the party labels and understand the beliefs of the candidate. Is BM any different as a REP or NNTP? Probably not, but can the same be said of other candidates for Supervisor. I am sure Michael will evaluate the best candidate for the job, and that's who will get his support. That's the same process I am using. I plan to be very well informed . . . . |

THAT'S the big question? It's THAT answer the people are waiting for? LOL - You crack me up! Get real - no one cares who I'm backing nor should they. They should figure out who they think is best by paying attention. I'm pretty sure I never said the major parties are evil - I said they're broken. From your post, I'd say you're the angry one, not me...but you're also funny as hell. Do you ever skip the hyperbole? I ran with Brian last time, remember? Why is it you think I don't support him now? Because he switched to Republican? I'm still a Republican but labels don't mean as much to me as someone's principles. I saw you at his fundraiser but you stayed all of about 10 seconds...you must REALLY like him, huh? I find it particularly amusing how you didn't much like him when he wasn't a Republican but now he's oh so special? You'd do well to discover some "so-called personal principles." If the "big question" is the one you asked, it's no wonder the local Republican Party is in the shape it's in. |

Not a loaded question, just a foolish and unimportant question. If someone wants to ask questions on that topic, I think your question addresses it better. In the end, I hope we all start focusing on the much more important questions facing this town. |

Thank goodness that GB was at BM's fundraiser for only a short time. He was extremely rude by talking non-stop (loudly I might add) to another person at his table while BM and BL were giving their speeches. Another Rep party member had to ask him to keep it down. |

How shocking! Being attacked by "tea partiers" who discovered politics in 2008! As a guy who was in the Buchanan Brigades and waged a party war in the mid nineties to move my GOP to the right, I get great amusements at the relative freshman atmosphere around some of the Tea Party posters here, who think they were the founding fathers of conservatism. So Clubhouse, now that you are old enough to vote, stand in line to take a whack at one of the "old guard liberal" republicans like me! I have been attacked by much higher caliber people and stood up when the other as$hole's face was in the mud. Pay your dues first and learn something- But remember that it always best to confront me to my face, not anonymously. |
