Wow I guess we can add the Chinese to the long list of ethnic groups GB hates. Are there any groups you do like?

There really isn't anyone I like.

I am comfortable with me, how bout you? You comfortable with you?

You know what I said about the Edgewood building is true, I went there for the equipment sale and the inside was decimated by the previous occupant, (and they happen to be Chinese) but having said that and telling the truth doesn't mean I don't like Asians. After all, when the feds raided the place, they basically all were forced to leave and they didn't even clean up or wash the dishes, there was a glaring lack of sanitation and they had rotted food sitting all over the place. Then the roof leaked and pipes burst while the government owned it (since we all know how well government takes care of their own property which is to say they treat it like sh!te) so NO there was no hope Scarbs would end up there. Does that put it in English for you, copservative in black or whatever you go by today? Who are you shuckin'? Maybe the A S S degree didn't allow you to comprehend so well. HVCC does that to a mind.

This is good news for the Recovery Room.  Now if Jonhny C's and DeAngelo's and other established Rotterdam businesse moves out of the area because of the crony capitalist moving in to the area, the Democrat plan will be complete.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahaha

I'll drive to Latham to go to their new establishment LONG before I'll go in the government funded Recovery Room.  I mean really, look what happened already when the federal government tried to buy businesses.  Hasn't worked there so far, what makes us think it will work at the county level?

But hey, even if it's moving to Latham, that still makes it a local small business, right, DVOR?  Even if it's not located in town, it's still a local business as long as it's within what, 100 miles?  I guess it's still a local business.

Actually -- yes -- I would still consider it a local small business when it moves to Latham.

Oh -- BTW -- the "buy local within 100 miles" was NOT my idea .. it is an idea that has been promoted all over the country for a the past few years.

There are a number of small businesses which are located outside the town and the county which are owned by residents of either the town or the county.     So there is nothing wrong with supporting small businesses in Latham or any place else in our region.

Then we know exactly why our taxes are so high here, because someone like yourself thinks it better to support someone who runs a business outside the county, even though they live in the county.  They realize that the taxes are unbearable in Schenectady County, so you would follow them, spending money at their business, paying the taxes of another county / state, while ours here at home continue to escalate unreasonably.  It's not "wrong" to support a business there, but it would be more "right" to support a businessowner who decided to not only open here, but to stay in business with the oppressive taxes that we have, and help to reduce our own tax burden instead of paying off the taxes of other counties and states.

I did NOT say it was better to support someone who runs a business outside the county --- I said it was good to support  small business owners in the region .. period.   Quite frankly, your reply to my post completely twisted what I had said.

Kevin, maybe you never leave the town limits ... but some of us do visit friends and family outside the town -- either in the Capital District or in other states -- and I am not ashamed of shopping in stores or eating at restaurants in those other areas   AS WELL AS  shopping in stores or eating at restaurants in town or the county.

I do, in fact, leave the area, but I don't go professing to others that we need to shop and keep our business locally, but have an idea of "local" that would include areas outside the state.  I realize this is a different issue that this specific restaurant, but it's the ideals that we can shop farther and farther away, and still call that shopping locally. Call it what it is, shopping at small business, if you must, but you can't call it local.

The "buy local" movement has promoted trying to buy as much of the food and goods that you consume from LOCAL producers within  100 miles from your home.      So actually -- going to a local restaurant isn't just enough -- if that restaurant serves food shipped in from some freezer in    Burbank or Beijing.
It means actually buying items directly from the farmers/producers or from shops that sell foods or goods that they obtained from farmers/producers within 100 miles.

That is why I started that thread a little while back about the farmers markets and small, local producers within 100 miles.    Of course, the "reich-wing"-big business censors objected to that and pulled the post.

Anyway --- so you think shopping at the  "Mega Chopper" in town  is buying local  -- but most of their processed food comes from many miles away and even from overseas.   So you are not really buying local.

Yet, if I drive to a farm in Columbia County and buy my chicken, pork, beef and lamb that was actually raised on that farm ---- I am buying locally in the truest sense of the word.

Next you will be accusing Ms. Savage of having kidnapped Santa Claus and cooking the Easter Bunny serving as Hossenfeffer for Sunday dinner.
