Senders--there is a big difference between seniors needing daycare and a place to live an active life.  Rotterdam does not have a senior daycare program.  But it will soon need one.  You may need to close the senior center but that is because seniors need to bond with the disability community for the help they need.

I am a little shocked that so many on this board have such little regard for what has been called "the greatest generation."  MT, GB, Gadfly, BS, and Peepers seem to understand what it takes to help people in the third age of their lives.  Shocking to think any of you were actually in office.  Last week I watched an Aalbany Common Council member get her a$$ blasted after the meeting by a senior who thought she was disrespected.  That could easily be anyone of you.

Paolino certainly did go to bat for Riitano.  And so did DM.  Are you nuts?   He blasted ST at a board meeting and than ran into Mertz in TH and offered to rearrange his face apparently so loudly that it could be heard in the stairwell.  Never there????  LOL Gadfly has got it right. She was always there. KNock it off Cis--you lost hands down with this one.  And when she left there was money in all of her budget lines because she was that thrifty with the Town's dollar.  ST and company had egg on his face.  You forget Paolino was the Super.  He had the floor just not the majority.  Even Vito Caruso told her what ST and company did was wrong.  Don't start Cis you could look mighty stupid on this issue very quickly.  And she was totally qualified and experienced.

And you DR was replaced by who?

By the totally inept and incompetent because that's all ST and team knew how to hire!  LOL  I
hate to have a battle of wits with the unarmed.  What's got you more pi$$ed that VC would speak out against you guys or the other Reps including the former Rep chair who logged phone calls to me to say they were against what was done.

I AM NOT disrespecting seniors....I work with seniors....and YES there is a HUGE difference between providing a playground and care...
I work in a nursing home(18years) and have GREAT respect for everything everyone has done in their lives....but for the town to expend
the money on something the boomers wont even come close to utilizing until they are to old to stand on their own 2 feet just seems
VERY shortsighted....

the town needs to be UPDATED to afford the boomers the ability to get around....we have no decent sidewalks...no shops,,,and no
foundation to afford a community center....seniors SHOULDN'T BE SEGREGATED.....no matter how it's sold to them.....
just because we get old doesn't give the politicos the right to use us in our winter years as podium pucks,,,,either using them as
victims or examples......

and dont worry....I look directly into the eyes of what I will become EVERYDAY.......and THAT is why seniors shouldn't be segregated

Senders--use your head.  You cannot close the senior center because the rest of Rotterdam can't figure out to meet the needs of the elderly w/p a center.  Is Mr deGeorgio going to make home visits....for free?  Rotterdam does not have in its plan to make the Town a viable and livable community.  Therefore, you will continue with a parade of retreads and has beens.  Leave Marco alone---she is the better choice.

we already have taxes being used state/county/town that go to senior programs that are already set up.....dont add another layer...
we can do it better together NOT segregated......it needs to be closed and the next generation of seniors better educate themselves
and quick.....

It's like the county spending all that $$$$ on the library....how shortsighted is that.....there wont be libraries as we know them now...and sooner rather
than later folks....so they expand it so the community can 'hang out'.....that's an awful lot of $$$ to call it something that it wont be.....it needs a
different name and different view....Community Media Center.....and each town should have one.....

THAT IS THE FUTURE and it's headed straight for us......are we ready? we're not that far out of the game yet.......let's get on it and ride

who cares....it's beyond who did what or who did what better......having a senior center(no matter who is there) is just plain
shortsighted....I'm sure everyone did the best they could with the skills they had.....many personalities involved and it's
just that difficult to keep things status quo for the seniors...(I know this first hand at my job).....good work everyone
but it's time to move forward into the 21st century and the next generation which is approaching quicker than we think....

we have to get beyond the "atleast we have blah blah blah".....we dont want the least behind the 8ball.....

..

I stand corrected.  She and the other women involved just stopped showing up to work.  I believe they were calling directly to FDG's office to report they were not going to work.

Either way, the Town Board is spending WAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on Senior Center drama.
