Rotterdam Senior Center probably does not have this information because nobody ever gets this stuff out.

Both houses of the Legislature have restored Title XX funding and this will hopefully help New York City to keep senior centers open.  The City had said up to 110 senior centers would close if the state budget cut went through that transferred Title XX funds to child welfare expenses.

both houses rejected the Governor's plan to eliminate ten programs in the State Office for the Aging budget and replace them with a competitive grants program with half the money provided to the ten programs.  The Assembly and Senate and have been reinstated the ten programs in their budget.

Among the programs restored will be StateWide's Patients Rights project along with the Elder Abuse and Education project run by Lifespan of Rochester.  The Congregate Services Initiatives which funds senior centers and the State Office for the Aging's Community Empowerment program were also restored at the lower levels along with state funds for the Foster Grandparent program and the RSVP program.  Other funds were restored for local respite projects.

Regarding EPIC, discussions continue about restoring funds which the Assembly did.  The Senate did not restore EPIC funds however it passed a resolution expressing support for the program and hoping to find funds for it or to increase federal support through Medicare for low income enrollees of EPIC.

It is very important to keep the pressure up on EPIC.  AARP has set up a toll free number to call on EPIC.  Am also urging calls directly to Governor Cuomo's office since the Governor proposed all the cuts.  Call his office at 518 474 8390.

people live longer debilitated lives....I dont want to die either.....but the expense cannot be afforded right now....there is 'stripping down' of the
government that needs to be done.....a 'reset' of sorts.......let's see our system-legal beagal-elected officials for what it is.......

I have been doing elder care for years, I have learned ALOT........a real real lot.....and the fact that meds are 'pushed' in a way as to the perception
of the aleviation of natural bodily processes....society fears it's elders as if they are china dolls.....and the misunderstanding of elders conversations
and expressions is profound......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
