ROTTERDAM
Senior center worker’s firing sparks outcry

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Project coordinator Diane Marco was given two weeks’ notice that she’s being dismissed from the Rotterdam Senior Center, sparking outrage among the town’s elderly population.
Supervisor Frank Del Gallo confirmed that he is removing Marco from the position she’s occupied since being appointed in January 2010. He declined to discuss the reasons for the change, claiming that it is a personnel matter.
“She was let go,” he said Thursday.
Marco, a part-time worker who earned an annual salary of $15,000, was reappointed to her post in January by the Town Board.
Calls placed to Marco were not returned Thursday. ..................>>>>................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00901&AppName=1

Working together does work for 'one faction of the dem party and the cons'.

This nonsense is nothing new.  That is what ST did to Deb Ritano.  It was personal.  But since he had no call to let her go he had to abolish the job.  Then he stole the money and used it to buy a hot shot attorney.  The senior center is nothing but bricks and mortar with no essential services running out of it.  Shiely is a bufoon as he continues to gripe.  Molly nice girl but not the background to face the challenges for the senior community.  AT least DM was interested enough to take that lame job.  Take a look at Albany Senior Services this deterioration is coming to a town near you.

Wow Yossi you are against Jack Shiely???????? Really??? What the hell has the guy ever done? He's the public face of the seniors. He's supposed to just say yeap screw us over its fine? Come on!!!

As far as hot shot attorneys.... Those attorneys never made the blunders we witnessed for the past year!! It was well worth the money...How much money is going to be spent thanks to the Supervisors continuous boneheaded moves?

NO idea how much it will cost for FDG's blunders.  The point is that removing Ritano was a power play that was personal.  Seniors loved her--there was always money in her accounts-ask DM Deb never went over budget.  And you haven't had anyone with Ritano's expertise since and you guys think it will DVR?  Stop the Insanity.  Again read the paper and see what is happening to Albany Senior Services.

NOt against Jack Sheily btw.  Jack is great if you want him to run a trip--I think that is what his job  was.  But he is not a mover and shaker when it comes to lobbying for the elderly and he certainly isn't getting the town ready for the boomer generation and he pretty much is one.  No not against Shiely--but stop the crybabying already.

No insult to Justin Mason but saying this: "sparking outrage among the town’s elderly population." maybe goes a bit too far. The shear numbers of people who use that center and interact there is in great contrast to the number of senior citizens in the town! Lets just be real about that regardless of the issue.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

GB I think he meant sparking outrage among the population at the senior center...Perhaps poor choice of words but I think what he meant is clear

Jack Shiely does not have 500 members.  They are lucky if they can get 80 -100 people show up at their meetings anymore.  That old regime who was the spark has now died--the rest are too disinterested.  People like bonitatibus, Quirini, Battaglia, Fusco.  They used to give the association some spark.  Fusco doesn't go their much anymore--NOBODY goes to senior centers anymore.  Sure the outrage will be now but by November they will not remember.  DM will become the Town Clerk.  John DeGeorgio will still try to make a comeback as Johnny Fontane--Gerard Parisi will become the Pizza Nazi--refusing to sell a slice of pizza to Ritano and Mertz and Tomassone will be like the "street toughs" from Seinfeld refusing to take off their flag pins to wear the AIDS ribbon.  Oy vey where is Uncle Leo when you need him.

"She is doing a outstanding job at the senoir center?" When? She has more hats than Sharon Jordan. Coming next-DM for Metrograft bored/Supervisor.

GB is right a tempest in a teapot. More and more DEMS fighting for scraps at the lower end of the trough. The one party DEM implosion is ending in November. Give DVR this post after throwing the computer out the window. That would be a win-win. Someone would actually be on site and this blog be readable.
