Hmm maybe if their bid request (I picked one up after the period in which you could bid) was clearer they would have gotten apples to apples. Don't mind me I am still bitter about not being able to bid :p |

The town board meeting appears to be nothing more than a 'witch hunt'. The room appears to have been filled with wining babies! And they were all town employees and cops with their leader tj hooker. Hardly representative of the entire town....30,000 residents. DM went on and on about her past accomplishments. And although admirable, it sounded more like a resume instead of a defense. Paolino was typical of old time rotterdam politics. His supporting DM was backed up by the fact that she campaigned for fdg and had long years of political service. Sounded more like quid pro quo! Old time rotterdam politics at it's best. Although parading the seniors around did give the meeting a warm and fuzzy touch!! And the dog story made my jaw drop!!! Was this guy for real???? Was this the best he could do to try to slam Longo???? And someone should remind ND that it isn't campaign time yet. Cause that is clearly what she is doing!!! If she were anymore full of herself, she'd explode!!! It appears that the dems planned on walking FDG into the super's seat and they would be the ones calling the shots!!! Ain't happenin'. WOW....how things change in a year. People thought that FDG was the worst. Looks like he's beginning to shine and the three musketeers and their supporters are beginning to look a band of idiots! Yup, it's a witch hunt in rotterdam....or should we say Salem? |

I continue to be totally amused at this nonsense. BT not so fast with the ND comments. She certainly is arrogant but she doesn't beat out John Mertz. He came down a peg or two when he realized on his way out the door that you meet the same people on your way down that you do on your way up. That guy should never run for office again. Can't relate to the human race.
Big problem if FDG has not told DM why she is losing her job. I would suspect there is a history here that none of us are privvy to. She must have been promised something--even that stupid job. I would bet they offered her the senior center with little money thinking she would not accept it and then she did! Her greatest ally is Paolino. He was right to go there to defend her. What is curious is that Diane said she was through with politics when she left but she's back. John DeGeorgio said he was done when he retired and he's back. Mertz was out and that whole crew wants back in. Do they know there is a bigger world outside Rotterdam? It's not a witch hunt its more like Walnut Grove minus Michael Landon's character. |

Sorry but I, unlike some folks, can't be bought nor bribed!!! Anyone with a half a brain could see right through the bullcrap. It was clearly.....old rotterdam gumbas at it's best!!! All of the whining, the self elevating, using seniors as pawns, the 'actual' suggestion of quid pro quo, the campaigning....the meeting was a total embarrassment for rotterdam residents. The people at that meeting were NOT reflective of the 30,000 rotterdam residents. They were the usual politically and personally motivated bunch. It was a freakin witch hunt!! Shame on all of you!!! Go back and read my earlier posts. I posted many times that I thought FDG was not suited for this seat and you defended him. I guess the roles are reversing.....eh? Listen.....I'm still not in support of ANY of rotterdam's present town board. I wouldn't vote for ANY of them. However, being a registered blank, and solely as an outside observation.............looking at the videos, FDG shined and the three musketeers came up with egg on their face. Who woulda thunk!!!!! |

By the way, Channel 18 has the "most recent" town board meeting on right now, which, by the way, is NOT this meeting. |

Yeah,,,DM fired Judy(Tim's mother) from from the Brass Rail and FDG hired them back overturning DM's decision. DM is in a pissing contest with FDG because of it. FDG wants to fill patronage positions at the Senior Center with his people, and DM wants to fill them with her people. It's that petty. |

Tippy here is an answer to your request
here is the text of Ms. Gabriele's statement from the 2/23/2010 meeting
####################################################################3
Town Board Meeting 2/23/11
We are here again 6 months after the vote was called to obtain an engineer’s report on the Esquire Village Apartment expansion. We now have a new board member, Mr. Wayne Calder, who was not present for the Public Hearing and did not hear the pleas of the residents in opposition to this project and zone change. We are hoping he is completely up to speed on this issue. I am curious as to why it has taken so long to be placed back on the agenda? We were told this was over, why is it resurfacing now? I certainly hope Mr. DeLorenzo was not waiting for a change in the Town Board.
At the June 9th meeting, when this issue last appeared on the agenda, the residents were misled by some to believe that apartments could be built whether the zone change was granted or not. Luckily, we did not let that misinformation sway our opposition to this zone change. A resolution was passed to get an engineer’s report to determine if this was possible. That engineer’s report makes it clear that the answer is NO.
Mr. DelGallo told us at that meeting that if we didn’t allow the zone change, things would be worse for us. Why would some of our public officials knowingly vote in favor of something that is against the zoning laws put in place to protect property owners, something that would be worse for us? You should be looking out for the best interest of the residents, not trying to trick and deceive them. The zoning laws talk about preserving property values and neighborhood character, buffer yards, trees, landscaping, sidewalks etc., yet when we try to bring up these points we are met with resistance. All we hear from the opposition is what Mr. DeLorenzo is entitled to. I think Mr. DeLorenzo has gotten more than his fair share over the years, while we have been ignored and treated like the enemy.
Supervisor DelGallo also told us at a town board meeting that he wouldn’t live where we live. He stated that it was too congested. The primary reason it is congested is because of the R3 spot zone. The last expansion was in 1985 and now some of our town board wants to allow this to happen again! I believe the other property owners in our neighborhood are just as entitled to their property rights as Mr. DeLorenzo is. Enough is enough.
Measures that were to be put in place to provide appropriate screening for our property are not in place and my correspondence to Mr. Maher in the public works department have gotten no response. This is the kind of thing we have dealt with over the last 26 years! No protection for our rights, the destruction of our property values and our quality of life. Defending our rights as tax-paying property owners should not be held against us.
I have been told by a resident on Floral Ave that in the summer when their windows are open they can hear the toilet flush in the apartment building behind their home. Yes, I would say that area is congested!! We do not want that to happen to our property and I think that it is reasonable for us to feel that way!
I am also curious as to why Esquire Village continues to dump the snow from the parking lots on the Floral Avenue R1 lot. When this was brought up at the Planning Commission meeting we attended, Mr. Blackstone assured everyone that was an isolated occurrence and would not happen again.
The points that we have made are clearly stated in the Zoning Code of the Town of Rotterdam, which should be the standard used for making this decision. We did not make this stuff up – preserving neighborhood character, putting the rights of one property owner over the rights of the remaining property owners, anyone familiar with the code knows that this apartment building should never have been allowed to expand to this size and encroach this far into the R1 neighborhood. The code actually states that the planning board can ask a developer to double the yard requirements to protect the privacy, neighborhood character and property rights of the neighboring properties. If a developer, no matter who he or she is, wants to build multi-family housing than he should buy land that is zoned for multi-family housing and follow the density requirements and building codes required of that property. The resident should be protected by their elected officials. I hope you can put the politics aside and do the right thing here.

I was at that meeting and the jist of what Mr. Del Gallo said was that there could be WORSE things he could do with the land than an apartment building if Mr. DeLorenzo chose to develop his property based on the current zoning. |

The point isnt what he is or isnt using his OWN property for... the point is that Ms. Gabriel (like many other people here) twist FDG's words into something that they arent |
