Why aren't you answering my question? You asked if the town chair was employed and I answered you. What is it that you do for a living?
Wade Abbott will be interviewed next Sunday for the position. I am not running for anything but I was referring to comments that have been made on here about single people. In anay event...answer the question: What is it that you do for a living besides being on the blog quite a few hours a day?

Let's make sure we are having this dialog in context.  I was responding to Black Spidey's scathing post about Wade Abbott and WHY he shouldn't be elected.  Since I have reason to believe that Black Spidey has close affiliation with the Rotterdam Republican Party based on his posts to date, and you just happen to be the Town Republican Chair who will have influence on whether or not Wade is endorsed by the party, as the head of the party I chose to question your integrity in order to make a point.

I find it funny how SOME personal characteristics of a candidate used to measure whether they are qualified is fair game for question during the vetting process, but ones marital and family status is off limits.

As for what I do for a living?  It doesn't matter.  I didn't question Wade Abbott's qualifications for being a legislator.  Maybe I'm an unemployed welfare bum, and practice in the modern day polygamy with 3 different baby mommas, that just so happens to follow politics for a hobby.  Would you vote for me?

Remember, this has nothing to do about legality, but whether the public identifies with the candidate.  I can only speak for myself, but I believe Wade Abbott represents the 30 something husband and father that wakes up everyday fearing what this Town and County will be like for his children, and whether his children will have opportunity to raise their family in this Town so he can see his grandchildren without having to fly 1000 miles.

TD, callous up, this isn't personal, this is politics.

This is the post I responded to TD, in case you need to catch up.

Senders,

Allow me to provide some information pertaining to Wade Abbott.

Wade is the (9 years) married father of two young boys.  He earned and was awarded a Bachelor's degree in
Engineering from RPI from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Wade was enrolled in the Navy ROTC program
at RPI.  After graduation, he served four years on active duty during peacetime followed by a period in the Naval
Reserves.  He resigned his commission at the rank of Lieutentant.

Wade's employment history includes working for Bechtel, a contractor for the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Propulsion
Program, in Schenectady (at the former Two Guys location on Liberty Street) and for GE in Schenectady.

He is presently pursuing an advanced degree at the College of Saint Rose.

Wade was a co-organizer of the Tax Day Taxed Enough Already (T.E.A.) party that drew several thousand
patriots to the Corning Preserve in 2009.  At the time, he was a regular caller to the Al Roney show on WGY.
Wade continued his political involvement, serving as the Media Consultant for Patrick Ziegler's campaign for the
NYS 20th Congressional District.

I hope that this provides some information to answer your question of "Who Is Wade Abbott?"

WADE ABBOTT
Abbott said the most important issues facing residents — government spending and taxation — go hand-in-hand. “Ever since becoming a homeowner, I’ve watched my property taxes trend ever higher. Government must first look at its spending before looking to the taxpayers. That’s especially true now that we have a 2 percent tax cap in place,” he said.
Abbott, who is making his fi rst bid for public office, said if elected he would conduct audits of county departments as a way to determine how best to control government spending. “It also requires asking questions of any proposed spending. Is the spending necessary? Does it benefit our constituents? What are the short- and long-term repercussions? Do the changes increase bureaucracy or do they streamline government? Only with answers to questions like these can we move to open and candid discussion of the issues,” he said.
Abbott also wants to add more transparency to decisions made on county spending and the county budget. “Too many decisions at all levels of government take place behind closed doors. The public needs to see and take part in these discussions,” he said.
Abbott said he wants to obtain “true mandate relief” by engaging state representatives, coordinating efforts with other counties, communicating issues to the media and reaching out directly to constituents. He also supports decreased spending as a way to pass along reductions in taxation to residents of Schenectady County. “That would certainly be a positive development in the county’s economic climate,” he said.
Abbott said residents should vote for him because he is an experienced leader with integrity and “excellent” organizational skills. “I am not afraid to make diffi cult decisions,” he said. “I believe in respectful debate of the issues, not personal attacks. It’s a cornerstone of my campaign and one I will bring to the Legislature.”

STANLEY MARCHINKOWSKI
Marchinkowski said the two most important issues facing residents are failure to move forward with consolidation of services and unfunded state mandates. He said consolidation should be a countywide initiative. “Many components, if not all of the consolidation, could take place without fear of the towns, city and village losing their identity and could be accomplished in a relatively short period of time,” he said.
He identified highway, purchasing and central dispatching as three areas that could be consolidated the quickest. “The consolidation of public safety departments will follow as the residents see the initial tax savings,” he said. “I have seen firsthand how consolidation worked for counties that have progressively moved forward.”
Marchinkowski called unfunded mandates “the most critical issue facing not only Schenectady County but every county in New York.” He said the state has placed the burden of paying for mandates, including Medicaid, on counties “with no explanation [of] how to fund them.” At the same time, he said counties are struggling with how to provide basic services to their residents.
Marchinkowski said residents should send “a clear message to the state that they need to work with the counties on these mandates before, one by one, our counties fail.”
Marchinkowski said residents should vote for him because he has the interests of all county residents in mind and because of his experience in and his knowledge of how Schenectady County works, including experience in labor-management.

Both of these guys have the same conservative ideology. They appear to both be in favor of smaller government  and less spending. Sounds a bit refreshing, eh?
