Borders is closing its store on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. The city is obviously going to hell ... and it is all Senator Farley's fault. If he spent more time actually doing his job and less time billing the taxpayers for the luxury trips that he takes himself and family members on -- then maybe Saratoga Springs would not be in such a state of decline. |

And is he at fault for Borders closing other stores through the whole U.S?????? THe loss of one book store is hardly a crisis. If Saratoga is in such a crisis, explain how come it is a superior place to live, taxes are substantially lower, crime is lower, people are moving to Saratoga area in droves, millionaires actually pay taxes there instead of taking money from low income people. Explain, DV, how come people flock to move to Saratoga county????????? Huh????? Huh????? Huh????? And they flock there WITHOUT a metroplex? You just can't handle the UNDISPUTABLE UNDENIABLE TRUTH that Metroplex is nothing but robbing the financially struggling taxpayer while millioniares get rich and don't pay taxes and people are leeaving the city in droves. |
| Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies. |

Or maybe Mr. Tonko, Mr. Schumer and Ms. Gillibrand should have all made sure that Borders got some of the free handout money. Either that, or this is how the free market works, take your pick. How about the New York State government throwing them some free money? That's how it works, doesn't it? A business can't succeed unless it's at the government teat?
I agree that ALL in our government need to seriously cut our spending, but blaming it on one person, no matter how long they have been in office isn't where all the blame lies. How about the other people who have been raising taxes consistently in New York State for years, pushing out additional people who could be shopping at this location? |

Saratoga going to hell?? Have you traveled into Schenectady lately DV? Listen, if you're concerned that one store is closing is the measure of financial stability of a City, you better take yet another Economics 101 class.
There is still a huge downtown thriving in Saratoga. Just because Borders is out, there are still plenty of other mom & pop shops and national retailers in Downtown Saratoga.
Hum, what retailers has Metroplex placed Downtown...NONE! How many retailers would come to Schenectady...even tax free? Well, I think that question has been answered.
I believe you have a little Savage-itis lingering from the last election. |

A nationwide decision to close many Borders stores as they face bankruptcy. This is like DVR's failed attempt to blame Senator Farley for a Skidmore student fighting a Skidmore student on Broadway. Unlike Metrograft land-Downtown Saratoga actually has retail! What a concept! Downtown Saratoga does revolve around a money losing theatre that refuse to pay ANY PILOT. Border's will be quickly filled by another private taxpaying job creator. What about Parenzo's, Kabul Night and Winedown Lounge? What tax dodging nonprofit will takeover in Metrograft land? And when will Proctor's flushed with cash over The Lion King-lol finally start repaying the County taxpayer? |

I was using the same "illogic" that the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity use when they blame certain Schenectady elected officials for EVERY piece of bad news that is printed.
Farley claims he was so vital in Saratoga Spring's positive economic news -- so he must take the blame for the negative economic news. Fair is fair. |

But don't let facts get in the way
Don't worry, DV rarely takes into account any facts prior to posting. |
