In regards to Gary McCarthy. The following says it all.... "Speech is a picture of the mind"

This is only the tip of the iceberg... God help us.

I have respect for the man that spoke up during the privilege of the floor.  He laid it all out trying to effect change in an area we all know still has much work yet to be done to improve it.

G McCarthy's bullying tactics at city council meetings is so over the top.  Here we are trying to confront bullying in our schools and on the internet and this is a prime example of the worst bully I have ever witnessed. Real fine role model for our youth!

I hope every mental health advocate in our community rises up in unison to confront Mr. McCarthy.  In fact I hope advocates from other communities around us get involved too.

I hope the media outside of Schenectady takes a stand in outrage at McCarthy's statements.

Poor quality, got it quick and not on our big screen.   McCarthy calls the citizen to the podium

I would have taped more, but had to hurry and delete some when my camera ran out of space, the memory card.

Here is when the first time speaker needs to finish up.  This is not a problem

And here is McCarthy's comment.

Is this conduct becoming of a soon-to-be mayor?   Is this even conduct becoming of a council president?

And also, sitting next to Carl ERickson, I think that's Denise Brucker.  She seems to have said something to Erickson.  Wonder if she pointed out McCarthy's wrongdoing or if she was trying to tell Erickson some negative history about the person who spoke.

Not to just the news media but to mental health advocates too.  Having worked in the mental health area in the past I still stay connected with many legislative and advocacy groups.  This will not be forgotten.

Interesting to see what Mr. McCarthy will pull next.

I watched it last night and that comment by McCarthy pissed me of as well. After Birch made his comments he left the room, I was hoping he would have sat back down because I was going to drive down to see what evidence he has. If he feels his civil liberties were violated then everyone should have took it very seriously on the council, especially if at the hands of a public servant.

Mike
Thanks for posting the video here.

I have an appointment this morning at CDPC, yes I go for therapy for panic disorder and depression and am NOT ashamed to admit it. Also PTSD from lots of issues in the past.

Anyways I will be bringing this up this morning and asking the best places to call in relation to mental health to get this video out.

When I did talk to the editor at the TU last night he said he would talk to McCarthy. Wonder what his defense to this one will be.

As we all know the awful comments he has made to and about other citizens.

When elected 'leaders' cannot control their obvious callousness and prejudice, it really isn't such a surprise that the City is in the shape it's in. Doesn't seem like he gets along well with others - even those he represents.

If McCarthy can't even be civil at a publicly aired council meeting, then he's obviously not fit to represent the City. Maybe he thought OSM would have edited his comments.

GREAT JOB MC1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This should go out to all media outlets and to mental health advocates NATIONWIDE.

McCarthy should be forced to resign by the party that supports him. If no one in the liberal socialist party doesn't denounce his insensitive behavior, than they are just as guilty!!

Again..........GREAT JOB MC1!!!!!!!!!

"Sometimes mental health issues drive the agenda here," stated Mayor in waiting Gary McCarthy.

He's right-On his side of the aisle. Then they wonder why so few sheeple speak up. Instead of listening they attack you in text messages or with snide remarks into the microphone. Where's the Reverend who was so shocked by the low level of public discourse? The MSM will not touch this issue. But the residents must.

I've called lots of media and mental health agencies. Hope others do the same. Heard some interesting things. I'm asking for his immediate resignation.

Some agencies I just spoke to said at the very least McCarthy should have to make a public apology and refrain from making any other comments during priveledge of the floor.
