Hull refused to pay a pilot.  And of course the current head of Union won't either.

DV cheers that Union "donated" a paltry $40,000 for the pool

Based on the assessed value of Union, the combined property & school tax that they would pay would be at least $3,000.000 per year.  That "donation" for the pool was like any of us dropping a penny in a Salvation Army kettle at Christmas.

Hull was the one who took MANY MANY MANY MANY high-assessment residential properties OFF the tax roll, so of course, we have to add the multitude of those properties to that $3 million.

So, if Schenectady get's Hull for mayor, it's going to be the SAME THING.....SCREW the financially struggling taxpayers.

Nothing will change

But is he as bad as Gary McCarthy? That's the real question. Hull is not part of the corrupt DEM machine. If he brings in some non-DEM hacks that would be a huge improvement. The GOP City Chair says she has a couple of women candidates for Mayor. No names but some alleged resume action which is always dubious.

Like the idea of two male insiders of "a certain age" against a female business leader. The door is wide open for an outsider not tied to Metrograft, not tied to County IDA and not tied to the DEM implosion committee.

Again, you are a liar -- I have NEVER cheered anything that Union College has done.

DVR has been clear with his opposition to Stratton's fair share PILOTS-especially for his church. A one time $40,000 payment from Union is a disgrace. The college has taken dozens of the best homes in the GE Realty Plot off the tax rolls. Seward Place is now tax exempt. The former Ramada Inn is now a Union dorm permanently off the tax rolls.

Union keeps saying they can't figure out what the tax should be. Simple solution-everything inside the gate is tax exempt-everything outside the gate is tax payable. This would generate $500,000 a year to both the schools and City. The home owners could use some relief. Hull says the City is poorly run and he is right. But the schools? They must also suffer because City government is a disgrace. Funny hearing a private college that can afford it stiffing the local school system.

I understand that Hull is supported by Neil Golub who serves on the Metroplex Board of Directors.
I also heard that Brad Lewis is being mentioned as a potential candidate on the Alliance Party line.
Anyone know of the validity of these accounts?  Will the Alliance party slate of candidates be
comprised of Metroplex Board Members and employees?

Neil is an old friend of Roger's from Schenectady 2000 days. Brad Lewis is not running for anything.

I have heard rumors of Cathy Lewis and Matt Brockbank for Alliance Party. With the massive fiscal problems the City faces candidates are not exactly ringing the phone off the hook. For any party. Who do the DEMS have to replace McCarthy, Allen and Della Salad?

Ok...here's the thing..........Yes Union College (under Hull's watch) took many many properties in schenectady off the tax rolls. But WHO and WHAT ADMINISTRATION put their stamp of approval on that???? Hull didn't demand it, didn't threaten to move the college out of the county and didn't ok it all by himself.

Now although I have reservations where Hull is concerned, and in all fairness, people need to hear more from him and exactly what his platform is. The people need to ask him the difficult questions, like desolving the plex......putting the plex businesses back on the tax rolls......his ideas on the county home....etc....

Here's what Ithaca did with Cornell and Ithaca College. The City refused to approve any building permits on campuses UNTIL they agreed to a fair share PILOT. They paid up. RPI pays $500,000 a year to Troy. Both those cities have leaders not some empty suit waiting for a State lob job.

So far Hull has been unclear about everything except wanting to clear out fossil DEMS in City Hall. That's an important first step but so is getting PILOTS out of the Big Three deadbeats-Proctor's {which refuses to pay anything even a pool fee}, Union and Ellis.
