Actually it is a good political move by the reps. There are seats up in both the city and at the county level that the reps can take away from the liberal socialists.

At least the city reps are working with the independent candidates....it would be a win/win for everyone.

Perhaps the rotterdam reps should take a lesson......perhaps?

Nothing is finalized yet but if it means the REPS running a full slate-great news! This opens the door for Roger Hull. McCarthy is no match for him. Tied to decades of DEM fiscal mismanagement and overtaxing. How long has McCarthy been in the dark on the pathetic City Council?

What happened last year when there was an open seat which Pat Z could have easily taken from Row B cannot be repeated. Unity!

McCarthy has a very good chance of knocking Hull out of the box.  The only think Hull has got going for him is name recognition.  One would have to review what his stance was re: town-gown issues when he was driving the boat.

McCarthy and Hull are both part of the problem that the city faces. How many properties were taken off the tax rolls under Hull's watch? And who ok'd them?

This will be one of those...'lesser of two evils'.

This is a no brainer. Gary McCarthy has sat there for years pretending he didn't know from nuthin. No one could be such a DEM insider and yet so out of the loop. He was part of the problem on the Metrograft bored, on the County IDA, SACC-TV President who destroyed community tv.  A vote for McCarthy is a vote for Stratton's third term.

Hull is far from perfect but at least he's not a DEM insider, who supported increasing taxes more than the current Mayor. If he will open up the government to non-DEM hacks that's a good first start.

A wise move,  A two prong attack if you will.  Why split a Mayoral vote between Peter/Roger.  Both positions are ripe for the possible taking.   Even if one gets in it's a step forward against the status quo.

McCarthy took the "Public" out of Public TV

Republican Guidarelli decides he will not run for mayor

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

Schenectady now has only one man in the running for the mayoral race.
On Monday, Republican Peter Guidarelli announced that he would not run for mayor, disappointing local party members who thought he would be the front-runner if he ran.
He isn’t the first potential frontrunner to leave. Democratic Mayor Brian U. Stratton bowed out last week when he announced he would leave his office in March to take a state job. He will become the director of the state Canal Corporation. That leaves only Alliance Party founder Roger Hull, who began his campaign for mayor in December.
Hull said then that he had to start early to beat the Democratic machine. Now, he’s still waiting for an opponent.
Guidarelli said he could not run for mayor because he will be running a capital campaign for ARC this year. He’s a consultant for several companies and agencies in the region, including the Warren and Washington counties chapter of the state ARC.
“It would not be fair to my commitment there to enter the mayor’s race, as well as other professional commitments I have,” Guidarelli said.
Last week, he had said he could not yet commit because he was waiting to hear about a business deal that would force him to stay out of the race.
Now, Republicans must fi nd a new candidate — and some of them are talking about Hull.
County Republican Committee Chairman Thomas Buchanan said Hull would be a wise choice. The party could endorse him even though he’s not a registered Republican. “He’s qualified to be mayor, he’s got the right message, and he can win,” Buchanan said. But, he predicted, Hull needs the Republicans. “The reality is, Roger Hull can’t win without the Republican Party. He just can’t do it,” Buchanan said. Hull has said he’s willing to accept any endorsements. Buchanan can’t issue the endorsements, though. That’s a matter for the city Republican committee to decide. “My advice to them would be to seriously look at it, and not reject it out of hand,” Buchanan said. City committee Chairwoman Darlene Lee wasn’t too eager. ...............................>>>>....................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01104&AppName=1

I emailed the council clerk a couple of days ago to find out how to get the rules or code of conduct regarding the city council/mayor. Was told have to go to the clerks office in room 107 for that info and that they pretty much follow Roberts Rules.
