Schenectady’s Downtown Property Tax Drain Pat Zollinger February 7, 2011
If you are wondering why we, the Schenectady taxpayers are taxed to the max and are paying more taxes than any other municipality in the State, and most likely in the country, here is one explanation.
While many of us are struggling day to day to pay our tax bill while doing without many of our essentials, a number of large corporations operating from downtown do not pay property taxes.
This means that we the average taxpayers are footing their bill while many of these corporations enjoy large profits while thumbing their noses at us. How can this be?
It is done with the help and the blessing of our city and county administration that enable these organizations to perpetrate their scams upon us...................>>>>...............>>>>................http://patzollinger.us/2011/02/07/schenectadys-downtown-tax-drain/
Nice Job Pat! This Metroplex scam has gone on long enough. Once this info is gathered, it needs to be put up on billboards around the city. Who’s starting the PAC?
Neighborhoods are falling apart, building code inspectors are harassing residential property owners, politicians looking to tax non-profits, and the cronies are raking in the dough.
I have an idea for a spin off of the "Got Milk?" campaign.
Got Exemptions? - With a picture of Villa Italia and a big ZERO TAXES over the picture.
Another nice billboard would be to show a residential property in Schenectady with how much is paid in property taxes, with a picture of Bomber Buritto next to it, and how much is paid in property taxes.
you will notice that the list includes the MVP parking garage, a deal negotiated by George Robertson -- one of the biggest scams of all. the other tax exempt property is the DOT regional HQ, another Robertson deal.. Both crimes were committed when the GOP was in power... so who ya gonna call,,, suckers.......

All in such a way that the average taxpayer can understand it and truly realize that millionaires connected with Savage and Stratton are exempt from paying all property and school taxes, and to make sure all taxpayers know that they are paying their own taxes AND the taxes of the milliionaires
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

What is 0 STratton Plaza???????? Notice it says "legit theater" Owned by PT Redevelopment which is Philip Morris Assessed for over $26 mllion! See, but Proctors is located at 430 State ST.
Something fishy.
Now, if Proctor's is assessed for over $26 million, let's see now, WHY is it a "no-for-profit" NFP's are agencies that provide mostly services to people, like health services, social services and the like. Or a little theater group that is a group of people that put on little shows, like Schdy Civil Players. But most definitely NOT a theater that puts on worldwide touring Broadway shows and shows from around the world, that is absolutely positively for profit
No wonder Morris can high tail it out of the dangerous crime and drug infested city. I can't wait for Pat to find out how much he makes.
The taxpayers have a birthright entitlement to the answers, to know every bit of the facts, the truth

Yeah, that MVP building and garage isn't owned by them. If it was I guess it would be exempt on the basis that it's a not-for-profit (most health insurance plans are NFP, well, many). But it appears to be owed by the IDA
The DOT building isn't owned by them, the tax exemption started 2003 and ends next year, Assessment is just over $10 million and exemption is only $1.4 million, I can't say "only" because that IS a lot. But be glad it's not owned by the state because it would be wholly exempt, all $10 mil. I wonder if the state ever becomes the owner, but currently it's in private hands it seems so that's why it's taxable.
