it still come down to the fact that a man
has not the ability to do such as get pregnant and the other fact that a woman cannot get a man pregnant.....

But the fact remains, the women has the ability to NOT get pregnant, taking abortion out of play.

YOU ARE CORRECT!!! If the women have the right and control on whether to keep her unborn or not, the women also have the right, control AND responsibility to NOT GET PREGNANT!!!

It's really a no brainer here folks.

Two days ago, back at post #63:

   * Birth control (contraceptive) failure. Over half of all women who have an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant.

~" the women has the ability to NOT get pregnant"??? She is using birth control in 1/2 of the cases, yet you say SHE has the option not to get pregnant.  (Unless what you really mean is she should NOT HAVE SEX AT ALL)

~If the birth control she was using was a condom, and the man purchased and applied the condom, where is HER ability NOT TO GET PREG???

The world we live in is fast and furious.  We see things on billboards and TV ads, we wouldn't have dreamed of seeing 30 years ago.  As a parent or young adult, you are concerned unplanned pregnancy and the risk of acquiring a sexually-transmitted disease. For some, the answer lies not in conventional birth control, but abstaining from sexual activity altogether.

Abstinence means saying "no" to sex until you are ready.  Over the years, this has been a topic of vigourous debate among parents, their children and medical professionals. With the high incidence of teen pregnancy, condoms have become available in health clinics, schools, storefronts and everywhere else.  Parents view the  increased availability, as the media and suppliers encouraging promiscuous sex, while the conventional wisdom of the health agencies see it as "protection" for the inevitable act.

married off with a dowrey at the ages of 14-15-16 etc.....and MEN were their husbands.....I wonder how cialis would have fit into THIS.....

so I will not back away from abortion as choice (hopefully last)....but as for my above statement was that illegal?

I dont think either are a crime per se'....but different views.....with ALOT of garbage in them....

Over the past decade, the number of sexually active teenagers has declined from 54 percent to 46 percent, according to a 2001 survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. When surveyed about their sexual history, a majority of adolescents report that abstinence education programs play an important role in helping them to abstain from sex until at least after high school. Parents and the American public are also increasingly supportive of abstinence education programs in America's public schools. In fact, parental and public influence is a major reason that abstinence is even mentioned in "sex ed" curricula. Abstinence is taught in hundreds of different programs around the country. Many abstinence education programs have been scientifically evaluated and shown to be successful in reducing teen sexual activity.

I dont disagree with abstinence being taught as the best safeguard for ANY kind of crap....abstinence isn't just the woman's responsibility either....

Who said it was JUST the woman's responsibility?

You don't agree with it, but more and more young people are practicing it.

Think about it - would you want to be back out in the "dating" scene now? I know I wouldn't, there's WAY too much crap being shared between sex partners - and their partners, and their partners ... ad infinitum.  We were lucky enough to survive it the first time as teenagers/20 somethings .. I can't imagine going through it again, today.

I'm talking about the way society is set up.....strip clubs/topless bars/'escorts'/viagra/cialis......and women get tampon
commercials and yaz commercials and how you 'should' look.....society is tipped.....and it ALWAYS has been...only with different
terminology....

there are enough elderly with 'diseases' for the 'unspoken' sh!t.....

and I would never want to be back dating again....never liked it to begin with....

the rich were always able to 'cover' their transgressions safely....the poor--not so much.....so I see it as equal access...and that
personal....

Abstain from sex unless willing to accept the responsibility of the possible consequences of failed birth control.  Health Class taught me that there is no contraceptive that is 100% reliable except abstinence.  If women abstain from sex because they are not willing to take care of a child, wouldn't that mean men aren't having sex too?  I don’t see this as a sexual punishment for just women since it takes two to tango.

When was the last time in recent history when you DIDN'T see 'Girls gone Wild" or the "Playboy Mansion" or Heffner/Flint?  I'll tell you when, before the 60's.  The profiting, objectification and commercialization of women and female sex appeal began during and accelerated AFTER the 60's sexual revolution.  The feminist created the Heffner's and the Flints of the world, injecting what used to be a fringe element of society and bringing it into the mainstream.  Women are now able to profit by selling themselves as sex objects without social stigmas.  Unfortunately that little thing called conception was an expense or liability in the sex market. So in order for the sex traders like Heffner and Flint to keep the product they are sell from losing their sex appeal, the consequences(babies) and those biological shape changing transformations that pregnant women go through needed to be mitigated.  So now you have the abortion on demand and the non-emergency or scheduled cesarian section.  All in the name of choice and women's rights.  Free at last...

true.....when was the last time in recent history you saw a womangirl 'sold' with a dowery to a man....just before the 50's and even
occaisionally today.....it's ALWAYS been about objectification....you know 'the dance'...only the difference it that women began
being educated (begrudgingly) and the educated women had $$ and were able to pursue their 'little hobby' as rich daddy saw
fit....and if little girl got herself pregnant rich daddy would send her off to rid that little issue......so it has been happening since
before the 60's only the conversation only took place in G.O.L.F. clubs......

Amazing!!!  According to some on this board, Sex Started in the Sixties!  Before that unmarried women NEVER had sex!

Abortion has been around since before the time of Christ, so has promiscuity (Mary Magdalene). Women were sold into slavery for the purpose of prostitution as far back as women were slaves (BC).
Sexual Promiscuity in America has been a reality as long as there was an America.

"In fact, the decade that witnessed a wholesale movement toward early sexual experimentation was not the swinging sixties but the roaring twenties."
See:
"The Decade that Gave Birth to Sexual Promiscuity: The 1920s"
