First, I don't believe that the american people really cared if a dem was sitting next to a rep or not. They were listening to the content of the speech.

Second, the word 'freeze' was used, but I never heard 'cut spending'.

Third, there was no mention of what will happen in 6 weeks when we hit our debt limit.

Fouth, I never heard 'end of big government' like clinton did in the 90's.

Fifth, his aspirations and inspirations were just that....words.

Now these are the issues that concern me the most. And for me they were never addressed!

But it was a pleasure not seeing that botox face sitting behind him.

Obama did say that changing to green energy will necessarily cost more money. Just look at the price of a gallon of gasoline, heating oil, and electricity and it will only get worse as time goes on unless the government changes direction. He also mentioned invest which is the new buzz word for spend.

You think I don't read stuff from the National Journal website  LONG before you post links here ??????
I spend way more hours on REAL political websites than I do here.

i was refering to the content of the speach not the commentary

on the subject of "freeze" vs "cuts"

the dumping of 600b US$ will create a false sense of "cuts" by driving inflation thus making the current debt seem small in the future

The future is coming for other folks than ourselves.....with ATM/CREDIT/DEBIT cards the future will have different ways to value
things....who is going to carry $$?.....

Unfortunately, I did not watch the State of the Union message ... had another meeting to attend ... and quite frankly the speeches are a waste of time.     They could save a lot of money and just send the President's Message to Congress by way of an email  ------ they used to just send it by a courier before -- -- I believe -- it was Woodrow Wilson who insisted on turning it into speech.

Quite frankly, these annual events are all for show.    In this year, they forced Democrats to sit next to Republicans ---  It was was bad enough being in the same chamber with them  -- and God forbid the wind shifted and one was down wind from the GOP members.   But now they want good, clean, decent Democrats to actually sit next to GOP members ...  that is "cruel and unusual punishment".
