3 people accused of gang assault SCHENECTADY — Three people face gang assault counts, accused of a September beating, authorities said. The three each face one count of second-degree gang assault, a felony. They were arrested Thursday. They are accused of beating the victim early on Sept. 10 on First Avenue. The victim suffered a broken jaw and other fractures, according to papers filed in court. Charged were: Carolyn Gosselin, 39, of 939 Congress St.; Desirae Bashaw, 18, of 808 Congress St.; and Lanette Yelle, 16, of 81 Elm St. The paperwork indicates there was a fourth assailant. The status of that person was unclear.
Police say suspect helped steal chain SCHENECTADY — A city resident faces a robbery count, accused of helping another person steal a gold chain, authorities said. Aleighsha Arrowood, 17, of 1939 Euclid Ave., was charged with one count of second-degree robbery, a felony, along with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment. Arrowood is accused of initiating contact with the victim and punching her in the face several times Aug. 18 on Guilderland Avenue. A second suspect then took a gold chain from around the victim’s neck, according to papers fi led in court. The victim’s young child was present during the robbery and the victim was sent threatening text messages after the attack, according to papers fi led in court. That status of the second suspect was unclear.
PRINCETOWN — A mother and daughter who both have served prison time for burglary were charged Tuesday with burglarizing homes together in Schenectady County.
Terry Hutton, 49, and her daughter, Crystal Renkawitz, 28, had several items reported stolen in their car during a traffic stop in Princetown, State Police said.
Troopers said they then searched Renkawitz's apartment, where they found more stolen property.
Police pulled the pair over after their car was identified as one that had fled from the scene of a daytime burglary. A woman woke up to find one of the women rummaging through her belongings, police said. The homeowner called police after the woman ran out of the house and drove off, police said.
Hutton and her daughter are believed to be responsible for at least five burglaries in Princetown and Duanesburg, police said. Both were charged with second-degree burglary, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
In 2003, Hutton and Renkawitz were both convicted of third-degree burglary for stealing from a 78-year-old Rotterdam woman for whom they pretended to be caretakers in order to fuel a drug habit, according Department of Correctional Services records and previous news reports.
Hutton served five years in prison; her daughter served three.
According to DOCS records, at the time of her 2003 arrest, Renkawitz told police she was high on marijuana and Valium during the burglary and participated because, "My mother asked me to."

Girlfriend charged with stabbing man in the leg SCHENECTADY — A man suffered a stab wound to his leg early Wednesday and his girlfriend was charged in the attack Emily Schade, 22, of 17 Elbert St., was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a felony, along with endangering the welfare of a child and menacing, misdemeanors. Schade is accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the leg just after 1 a.m. Wednesday during a dispute at her apartment. The victim was treated at Ellis Hospital.
Man allegedly hit woman with keys SCHENECTADY — A city man faces an assault count, accused of hitting his girlfriend with keys. Kyle Pennie, 31, of 1050 Gillespie St., was charged Dec. 24 with second-degree assault, a felony. He is accused of hitting the woman over the head several times with keys, causing cuts that required staples to close. The woman was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment.

Mother accused of DWI with child SCHENECTADY — A Clifton Park woman stands accused of driving under the infl uence of drugs while a young child was in the car, authorities said. Kimberly Hogle, 30, of Fern Lane, was charged with one count of felony driving while intoxicated, along with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Hogle is accused of driving under the infl uence of drugs at the Stewart’s on Brandywine Avenue, according to papers filed in court. Her 4-month-old child was in a safety seat in the rear of the car.
City man accused of garage theft SCHENECTADY — A local man faces a felony charge, accused of breaking into a garage and taking a snowblower, authorities said. Nathan Nye III, 39, no address given, was charged early Friday with one count of third-degree burglary, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Nye is accused of breaking into an Eastern Avenue garage just before 3 a.m. Friday and taking the snowblower and tools, according to papers filed in court.
Two men charged with drug attempt SCHENECTADY — Two men face felony drug-related charges, accused of attempting to illegally fill a prescription, according to papers filed in court. Christopher Smith, 28, and Nathaniel A. Mitchell, 27, addresses unavailable, were both charged Thursday with one count of fourthdegree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. They are accused of trying to illegally fill a prescription for 60 tablets of Oxycodone at the Glenville Walmart. Making the arrest was DEA Task Force, with the state Department of Health Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement and assistance from the Glenville police, offi cials said.
City man arrested in drug-store theft SCHENECTADY — A city man who reported being robbed at gunpoint just before noon Monday was soon under arrest himself, charged with misdemeanor theft an hour later, police said. Police later were trying to determine if the he actually was robbed, citing inconsistencies in the man’s story, police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken said. The events began just before noon Monday when James Johnson, 44, of State Street, reported to police he had just been robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of Ellis Hospital’s McClellan Street campus. Police responded, but Johnson soon became uncooperative. What he did tell them was that the robber took his wallet, along with cash and pills. An hour later, though, Johnson was at the CVS at Eastern Parkway and McClellan Street, about a block from the parking lot where he said he was robbed. There, police said, he was caught stealing miscellaneous items. Johnson now faces one count of misdemeanor petty larceny in that case. The investigation into whether the robbery actually happened is continuing, McCracken said.
Teen accused of child sexual abuse SCHENECTADY — A city teen faces felonies, accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 11, authorities said. Diamond Wallace, 17, of Second Avenue, was charged Friday with one count each of first-degree criminal sexual act and fi rst-degree sexual abuse, felonies. Wallace is accused of sexually abusing the child in August, according to papers filed in court.
Unpaid $18K bill leads to charges SCHENECTADY — A Latham business man faces felony charges, accused of racking up nearly $18,000 in unpaid utility bills, authorities said. James J. Muia, 57, of 71 Harvard Road, was charged Saturday with one count each of third-degree grand larceny and fi rst-degree falsifying business records. Muia is accused of racking up the bills with National Grid through an account called 605 Reign at 605 Union St. Muia allegedly signed up for the account under another name “with intent to defraud the company,” according to papers filed in court.
Two are charged in home burglary SCHENECTADY — Two city residents face burglary counts for allegedly breaking into a Furman Street residence, authorities said. Jackee Dodson, 20, of 21 Mynderse St., and Tirae Knight, 19, of 32 Steuben St., were each charged late Friday with one count each of second-degree burglary, fourthdegree grand larceny and fourthdegree criminal mischief. Dodson and Knight are accused of breaking into the residence Friday evening, taking a television and DVDs, according to papers fi led in court.
City man accused of stealing car SCHENECTADY — A city man faces felony theft charges, accused of taking a woman’s car with an ATM card inside, authorities said. Dexter Ashburn, 46, of 424 Brandywine Ave., was charged Friday with one count each of third- and fourth-degree grand larceny. Ashburn is accused of taking the woman’s car and ATM card in October, according to papers fi led in court.
Pair accused of street robbery SCHENECTADY — Two city men face robbery charges, accused of robbing a man of his phone and hat, authorities said. Dayshon McKenzie, 19, of Albany Street, and Nahiem Timmons, 18, of Emmett Street, were each charged with one count of second-degree robbery. The two are accused of robbing a man at a Craig Street address early Monday, according to papers fi led in court.
Strangulation charge leveled SCHENECTADY — An alleged choking in Schenectady has a Ballston Spa man facing a felony strangulation charge, authorities said. Michael Catuccio, 27, of Peacable Street, was charged Monday with one count of second-degree strangulation and fi rst-degree criminal contempt, felonies. Catuccio is accused of choking a woman Dec. 14 on Union Street, causing her to pass out, according to papers filed in court. Catuccio is also accused of violating an order of protection.
Assault charged in domestic case SCHENECTADY — A city woman faces a felony, accused of throwing an object at a man in a dispute, authorities said. Kimberly Castillo, 18, of Steinmetz Homes, was arrested Tuesday on one count of second-degree assault. Castillo is accused of throwing the object at a 24-year-old man at Steinmetz Homes Nov. 16, according to papers filed in court. The man suffered a wound that required multiple stitches to close, according to papers.
Woman fined on reduced charge SCHENECTADY — Kimberly Wolf, 49, of Schenectady, was sentenced to pay a $100 fine in City Court on Tuesday after her plea in December to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct. Wolf was originally charged on Sept. 29 with prostitution and loitering for the purpose of prostitution.
Chatting drivers ticketed in sweep SCHENECTADY — State police issued 35 traffic tickets in Schenectady County over a six-hour period Thursday as part of a statewide effort to reduce traffic crashes caused by distracted driving. Of the 35 tickets issued during “Operation Hang Up,” 23 were for using a cellphone while driving, according to a state police news release. The tickets carry a $100 or $150 fi ne. One person was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. State police cite statistics from the National Highway Traffi c Safety Administration, which found drivers who use cellphones or similar devices are four times more likely to get into a serious crash, and drivers who text are 23 times more likely to get in a crash. It notes that 16 percent of all distracted driving crashes involve drivers under 20.
Man charged in knifepoint robbery SCHENECTADY — A city man is facing a top-level felony in a knifepoint robbery, authorities said. Quran Smith, 25, of 596 Livingston Ave., was charged Thursday with one count of fi rst-degree robbery. He is accused of robbing a 39-year-old man of nearly $600 the evening of Nov. 13 at a Sixth Avenue address, according to papers fi led in court. Smith did so, according to papers, by punching the victim, stomping him and putting a knife to his throat. The victim was treated for his injuries at Ellis Hospital.
Arrest made in apartment burglary SCHENECTADY — A city man stands accused of burglarizing a home and stealing $6,000 in cash and gold jewelry, authorities said. Willie Dowling, 35, of State Street, is accused of breaking into a State Street apartment and taking a safe containing the items Jan. 14, according to papers filed in court. He faces one count of seconddegree burglary, a felony.
Woman accused in theft of puppies SCHENECTADY — It took seven weeks, but the burglar who stole five puppies from a Hattie Street home has been captured, authorities said. Megan M. Lavarnway, 21, of Congress Street, was charged Jan. 11 with one count each of seconddegree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies. She is accused of breaking into the residence Nov. 24 and taking five pit bull puppies and a television, according to papers fi led in court. The papers do not indicate whether the puppies were recovered.
Charges leveled in Schenectady theft SCHENECTADY — A city man faces a burglary count for allegedly breaking into an Albany Street building, authorities said. Anthony D. Paglio, 44, of Eastern Avenue, was charged Jan. 13 with one count of third-degree burglary, a felony. He is accused of breaking into the building and stealing items Sept. 23, according to papers fi led in court.
Man accused of stealing tip cup SCHENECTADY — A city man is accused of forcibly taking a tip cup from a Dunkin’ Donuts shop. Ryan DeVeaux, 31, of Tenth Avenue, was charged Jan. 11 with one count of third-degree robbery, a felony. He is accused of grabbing the tip cup from the Dunkin’ Donuts on Broadway, then engaging in a tug of war for the cup when an employee tried to stop him, according to papers filed in court.
Knife injury, other incidents draw indictments SCHENECTADY — An attack that left a man’s ear cut with a knife has a city man facing an assault indictment, authorities said. Hussayn McClain, 41, of Albany Street, was indicted Wednesday on one count of second-degree assault, a felony, Schenectady County district attorney’s offi cials said. McClain is accused of beating a man at a Twelfth Avenue address Dec. 24 and cutting the man’s ear. The victim was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment. Also indicted Wednesday: Christopher Sweet, 26, of South Ferry Street, was indicted on two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and one count of criminal obstruction of breathing, seconddegree menacing and four counts of tampering with a witness. Sweet is accused of violating an order of protection on South Ferry Street Dec. 7, offi cials said. Darryl Manning, 30, of Washington Avenue, was indicted on one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Manning is accused of possessing cocaine Oct. 20 at Eastern and Morris avenues, offi cials said. Troy Tenace, 24, of Garner Avenue, was indicted on two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Tenace is accused of possessing marijuana April 5 on Rosa Road, offi cials said. Jason Biitig, 30, of Mayfl ower Drive, was indicted on one count of driving while ability impaired. Biitig is accused of driving while impaired by drugs July 4 on Mayflower Drive.
Multiple charges in domestic case SCHENECTADY — A city man faces an attempted robbery count, accused of trying to take money from his girlfriend, authorities said. Joshua P. DuBois, 24, of Nassau Avenue, was charged Saturday with one count of third-degree attempted robbery, a felony, along with unlawful imprisonment, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, misdemeanors. DuBois is accused of trying to take the money from the woman on Pleasant Street, then preventing the woman from getting up off the floor as police arrived outside and then fleeing on foot. DuBois was arrested a short time later on Crane Street.
Man accused in apartment break-in SCHENECTADY — A city man stands accused of breaking into an apartment in August, authorities said. Maximo Serrano, 30, of Steinmetz Homes, was charged Thursday with one count of second-degree burglary, a felony. He is accused of breaking into a Steinmetz Homes residence Aug. 22 and then preventing the resident from calling police by taking her phone, according to papers fi led in court.
Police allege man had forged check SCHENECTADY — A city man has been arrested for allegedly having a forged payroll check, authorities said. Marcus A. Partlow, 25, of McClellan Street, was charged Wednesday with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. He is accused of possessing the forged $905 check at the Price Chopper on Eastern Parkway on Dec. 17, according to papers fi led in court.
Police accuse teen of shooting window SCHENECTADY — A city teen faces a felony charge, accused of breaking out a window at an apartment with a BB gun, authorities said. Keiontaii Pimentel, 16, of Van Vranken Avenue, was charged Jan. 27 with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and false impersonation, a misdemeanor. Pimentel is accused of shooting out the window on VanVranken Avenue with a pellet gun Jan. 27, then lying to police about his name, according to papers filed in court.
Teen accused in apartment burglary SCHENECTADY — A city teen faces a burglary count for allegedly breaking into an apartment Monday, authorities said. Tramere T. Artis, 17, of Mc-Clyman Street, was charged later Monday with one count of second degree burglary, a felony. Artis is accused of breaking into a Hulett Street apartment that afternoon and taking a shotgun and a rifle, according to court papers.
