Others have the chow tab already, and they are pretty connected.

Mont Pleasant has its problems -- but it is certainly not as bad as parts of Baltimore or Detroit -- and I've lived in and still visit both of those cities.

I have never been a victim of crime in Schenectady, Baltimore or Detroit.   The only time I had problems with criminals was in supposedly "nice areas"  Loudonville/Colonie and in Clifton Park.

The best way to defeat crime is to not back down.  To go on driving through, shopping in and visiting or living in the neighborhood.   My family and I continue to support  Mont Pleasant businesses like Combo's and will support the new restaurant/bakery as well.    And I know there are many others who share my view.   We will not become "victims" ---  the rest of you can go hide in your bunkers and wallow in the "victim-mentality".

If you say don't back down, well tell us, DV, how come you don't own a house in that neighborhood.  Why don't you help defeat crime and live there and walk around the neighborhod telling all the criminals to their faces that they had better leave or else?

Yeah, Clifton Park is scary. Spoken like a true democrap liar. Burnt Hills is worse than Hamilton Hill.

Mt. Pleasant is no different from the hill. The cop stories are the same. No one does nuthin.

Listen, the FACT is...that decent, hard working, law abiding citizens do NOT deliberately move to a crime ridden, deficient school district, high taxed area in hopes of making it better. That is the governments role. It is the governments role to provide a safe environment with manageable taxes where the value of homes 'at least' equate to market value.

The city government has failed it's residents miserably. And because of that, the people are 'walking away' and new decent folks are NOT moving in.

I do wish this diner success....but honestly, without the support of the city government and law enforcement....their success is dim at best.

Oh, it is all the same. How relative.

Despite the nattering nayboobs of negativity,  many folks are happy that the diner will be reopen.  Furthermore, many folks are actually positive-minded and will continue working to make Schenectady - the whole county -- a great place to live, work and do business.

To those who only have nasty things to say and are constantly knocking our community -- quite frankly .. go to the nearest exit and leave.  We really don't want or need your negativity.

Provide the data (from OFFICIAL sources) showing the number of murders in a  years time in CP or Burnt Hills.
Ditto for how many daytime drive-by shootings
Ditto for how many children are shot on playgrounds in the day time
Ditto for how many armed robberies at family eateries
How many stabbings were in CP or BH last year?????    Huh DV??????   Huh???????

Can you answer those questions, DV??????

And tell us DV, tell us what percent of businesses are 100% tax exempt, i.e., what percent of businesses in CP or BH have their property AND school taxes paid by the homewoners?????   And, of course, provide the proof through OFFICIAL sources (links to government records to prove what you claim)

I was particularly happy when the couple from Maryland owned and operated the Mont Pleasant Diner ... as I remember it  .. they did serve very good crab cakes and had some other wonderful dishes.   I hope that the new owner  has a unique menu .. not just the standard diner fare.

AGain, DV, provide the statistics from official government sources that shows how many stabbings, shootings, murders are occurring in CP and BH.
And show us, from the official government records what percent of well-heeled businesses owners have their property and school taxes fully paid by the taxpayers.

Why do you avoid responding to that?

Any plex involvement/offers of assistance?   Or do they just assist helping business'(Marcellas) to move out.   But if plex was concerned with Crane St. redevelopment they would of not offered such a deal to M's to leave.  Rather they could of taken the downtown location incentives, applied them to keeping them there, and used it as a rebuilding base for the area.   What say you Chamber of Commerce?   Offering any help?  Welcome?

With Balt./Det. populations of 637,000+/910,000+ respectivly (accdg. to 7/1/09 numbers) it would stand to reason they would have more crime.  So comparing those cities to MP is a moot point.     One could look purely at the ratio of pop.to actual crime and come up with a % rate number.   That would only be telling from a statisical viewpoint.   Further substanciating the moot point view.   Those percentages only tell you what HAS happened and maybe at best your future odds of what MAY happen.   The greater point being is how such a problem as this is dealt with.
