If you'll notice, the photos were taken Jan 12 of this year.

The snow ended on the MORNING of the 12th.  These are taken later afternoon.  These were taken AFTER the plows went through and you WILL notice (right DV?? that the plows went AROUND the car.

Tell us DV, since this is a pic of McClellan St, tell us what street is highlighted in bold.   Is McClellan St a priority street or is it not?????     Therefore based on the information from the city, based on the city's rules, tell us, was it proper for the city to plow AROUND the car and leave the snow there, leave the mounds there to freeze????    yes or no????

The following was announced by the city the morning of Jan 12 and published in the gazette

Snow emergency NOT declared in Schenectady; no parking allowed on priority streets (with list); Albany declares emergency

most of the roads are in awful shape, hubby drove me home from my daughters and cars buried everywhere, like someone mentioned its making it one lane traffic and then all the people walking in the roads, which they have no choice because even though people shoveled its getting plowed back into sidewalks and driveways and its very heavy now with the ice.

DV_- the roads are in pretty good shape? do you have sch'dy mixed up with another city! And as for living in the northern climate have lived here my whole life, and we pay VERY high taxes and fees and expect plowing to be done correctly. The government is not taking care of us, we are taking care of them.

Oh and DV did you watch the council meeting tonight and notice on the screen concerning consolidation of police departments that Sch'dy is a small city paying some of the highest taxes in the nation?

Get some photos and post them.   DV claims Mt Pleasant is worth investing in (but he wont' invest himself and can't explain the business that have left).

Since the city admin./snow plow maint. dept. lives/works in the same northern climate would seem THEY would ALSO know how to maintain the snow issue.   Can't lay it all off on the public.

Duane Ave, Stanley Street and all the roads in that area are like a war zone.  You have to weave in and out of cars.  Some still buried.  NONE of the hydrants are cleared.  NONE of the sidewalks are cleared.  If I had a camera with me, I would have taken pictures.  Where some cars were cleared, now there are mounds of snow in the road and around where the car was.  You have to pull over to the side to allow another car through as its single lanes.  And once you pull over, good luck getting back out.  People dont park up against the snow bank because passengers need to get in and out too.  Its a mess over there.  Albany Street near McDonalds is the same way.  Parts are narrowed to one lane.  Bigelow is solid ice on one side.  No sidewalks there either.   Hydrants on Stanley Street in front of the school there are buried.  All the secondary side streets off Helderburg are a mess.  Broad Street, Jerome Ave, and a few others in that area are almost less than one lane.  You cant get through some parts of those streets when the cars park on the street. These are roads that a lot of traffic do go through.   I havent been down through the middle of Mont Pleasant yet.  I know 10th is the same way.  You have to wind your way in and out of the parked cars to get through.  Pretty much one lane through there.  Most of these roads are traffic roads to connect through the neighborhoods.  Cars going both ways cant get through and get stuck trying.  There are some main roads that are ok.  Not the best but ok.  State Street is about the only one that is cleared.  I havent ventured anywhere else yet.  Too cold to be out there.

Well you would think the residents would get off there lazy asses and clear a hydrant out. I have a hydrant across where i live and i shovel it out after every storm. That is common sense to me

The same could be said for the firefighters who sit at their stations all day, between calls.  They COULD be and SHOULD be, out clearing hydrants. Residents pay enough in taxes.

The thing is, I dont live there anymore.  I moved out of the city.  But when we did, we kept the area clean.  We kept the hydrant out front clean and the drain on the corner so it didnt flood and freeze.  I feel bad for the old people across the street because now there isnt anyone to help them out.  I drove past the old house.  No one cleaned the driveway.  No one cleaned the sidewalk.  No one is even cleaning off the steps for the mailman.  There is someone still living in the lower apartment.  Nothing is done.  The drain is covered in chunks of whatever is plowed over it.  You can barely get down the street.  Weaving in and out of the parked cars.  Some still buried from the first storm.  They dont move them.  And those that are moved are parked further into the street.

What gets me are the ones that dont park up close to the snow bank.  They are parked out further to allow the passenger side to have access.  This makes it worse for lane size.  The people dont care.  Its really sad.  And you can watch the cars hit the ruts in the road and slide sideways toward the parked cars.  I wouldnt be surprised that somewhere a car did hit a parked car this way.

Wow, EACH AND EVERY day the news is reporting about Albany removing know.  EACH AND EVERY DAY they announce the streets (or publish in the newspaper).

So, WHEN is the city of Schenectady going to even push the snow back to the curb???????????????

Oh yeah, there is no money.  Only two weeks into the new budget year and we are already looking at a HUGE tax increase next year....because, you know, those millioniares just cannot afford to pay their taxes.  And the super wealthy Proctors --- 500% a FOR PROFIT BUSINESS -- raking in HUGE MONIES from the ELABORATE WORLD SCALE shows, and the rents form the other places, you know, they just have to operate all these socialized businesses and tax homeonwers out of their homes.

So, essential services like good snow plowing and snow removal are NOT in the Stratton dictionary

You're absolutely correct - but what about the handicapped, elderly? Would you want them out there to have a heart attack cleaning the hydrant out when there's perfectly capable men sitting on their collective a$$es @ each station?
