If Atlas Shrugged mentality takes effect....the legal begals in an attempt to 'control' where knowledge and $$ go could try to make a law banning
use of 'un-approved media' at those transparent open to public government meetings.....

they dont want to do that.....

Showing town board meetings and city council meetings should be viewed as a public service to enable those who are disabled and can't attend the meetings a chance to see what's going on in their government. There should be no charge for that service, this is just another way to keep the Titanic, aka Proctors, afloat for a little longer and line Phillip Morris's pockets IMHO.

maybe as a public service OSM could provide discounted IPADs to the homebound and disabled for viewing/hearing etc......there
is alot of other media out there

If you notice some shows that used to be on are no longer there, it's because OSM told them they didn't have enough of their own techs to run a show. Funny thing is when you watch the video Morris/McCarthy/Barber put out it says only one person is needed to run the equipment. They are being selective on who gets a show and who dosen't.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised when Proctors takes something over and it cost taxpayers more? Somewhat like the year Stratton promised he wouldn't increase taxes and the assessor went hog-wild with the inflated numbers.

PS- Spotlight already did a piece saying that Glenville residents aren't willing to give OSM money for their low standard production. Skype, you tube...I guess Glenville is sticking the apostrophe back.

Once the people in control of SACC TV became 'government leaders or those connected to them', one could see that OSM was the direction they were headed for.

What a shame!

Just a slight correction on the PEG fee. City of Schenectady cable subscribers pay 52 cents, not 40. I don't know when it increased.

Pat I first noticed it at the beginning of Feb.  That is when TW always increases rates and channel line up every year. http://www.rotterdamny.net/m-1296930370/s-0/#num0

Put the blame where it belongs on Gary McCarthy. McCarthy weaseled his way to SACC-TV "leader" and then dumped the whole operation at his buddy's Mercury Morris door. This is another cash grab for Proctor's. They lack the ability to even record public meetings. Ceiling shots, pans, shots of the Chair when someone else is speaking.

Bravo to Glenville and stick to your guns. It's worth nothing and pay nothing. This will mean that the sheeple in the City must pay more. Mayor McCarthy will proclaim this "good". Then to add insult to injury he turns down State funding for a City Hall production closet! Anyone supporting Gary McCarthy for Mayor should be taken to a rubber room.

Folks the following is an interesting read.  Greg Millett wrote it quite some time ago.  Because it is so old the video's of the SACC-TV meetings are no longer on line.  I don't know how much longer this will be up on the internet. Philip Morris has been a BS artist from the start. Scroll down on the page and you will see a letter Morris wrote to the city in prep for his takeover.  http://www.greggmillett.com/SACC.htm

Also folks the City Cable Committee consists of Stratton, McCarthy and Morris.  We lost Stratton and  McCarthy may be moving up to mayor and I think he can no longer be on that committee so that just leaves Morris on it.

And with Morris the only one on the committee...wonder where that goes.  Hope there is a minimum required on the committee so that there will be two others on it but who would you choose from the folks on the current city council.

If you think a 30% PEG increase which was a part of the City-Time Warner Franchise agreement which I think is now etched in stone for 10 years is a surprise I wonder what else is in that franchise agreement?

SACC Inc. is still alive. I believe it changed the 501(c)(3) name to SACC Inc. from SACC-TV.  They really need everyone's support they have not given up on PEG nor the community.

If you want to put "Public" back in "Public Access" this is your chance.  They are trying so hard for us.

The Board of Directors of SACC meets every 3rd Tues of the Month at the Price Chopper Community Room 5:30pm. Everyone is most welcome.

The members on the board and it's officers have changed from the old SACC-TV.  This new board of directors are the ones that called the alarm on OSM trying to take money from the SACC-TV money that did not belong to OSM.    The SACC-TV at the time even went so far as to give OSM some of the money that belonged SACC-TV to help OSM out in the beginning. Quite a few thousand, I have to confirm how many thousands but it wasn't any small chunk of change.

A committee of one-Mercury Morris! Too funny. The old SACC-TV board created this problem. They allowed McCarthy, Garder and Morris to takeover. No one went to their meetings so it was easy for the DEM committee to commit a hostile takeover. Somebody elected McCarthy as SACC-TV President. Ms Bull is a great lady but did not react to the obvious. She thought it was okay because they were liberal DEMS and back stabbed with smiles on their faces. Cel-where is Elmer B in all this?

The Gazetto, to their credit, said Garder should be thrown off SACC but no one listened. How to do you reverse this? Stratton has blasted off and is laughing all the way to the bank. McCarthy will be Mayor and caused this. Morris is in it for the money and is laughing all the way to the bank. He believes he is an important part of the community. The overpaid, self important, nonprofit community. Channel 16 has never been worse. An unwatchable stew of communist programs, lousy movies and propaganda films. The kind of fare one would expect in North Korea.

Folks made serious mistakes and when it was nearly too late they woke up and stood up for their mistakes and are working hard to bring Public Access back to the people.

I can't speak for SACC INC. but from what I am seeing as a SACC Inc member they are trying to do the best they can to rectify the errors made in the past and move on.  Learning from what happened and not giving up on the purpose of Public Access and get it back to being for and by the people and not a Morris organization.

Most of us know the history of the mistakes made, about what happened before or we can move on and support the new SACC Inc.that knows where Public Access needs to go and should be.

Attend a meeting and gather your opinion about what they are trying to do for us.  They need all our support.

In regards to channel 16  I wouldn't want to have a station that makes decisions on which programs they are going to air.  Could be some real abuses.

Public Access is just that. Free speech should be priority number one.  i agree some of the programs are right out there but I would rather they have the freedom of expression then to take it away. I don't condone the communist programs and propaganda films but they have the freedom in this country to air these opinions.

Bringing  "Public" back to Public Access support in SACC Inc is the way

"Trying to take advantage of those opportunities" Morris. That says it all. He saw an opportunity and took it. Don't see how you get the community back into this equation. What happened was disgusting and so is the lack of reaction by the MSM. Cel could you list the new board members?

Benny what I was referring to was the officers.  I didn't know who the others were that were on the BOD.  But do now.

I have no idea how things will ever be done to get Public Access to actually get back to including the citizens of the city.

One thing I can say is SACC Inc. does have a BOD and many members.  It is 501(c)(3).  As Public Access is now it appears it is a Morris production with absolutely no public input.  No membership. In fact I can't even locate if OSM is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit but I think is supposed to be.  OSM has no info on it's website about a BOD so I am thinking it isn't another real bad sign about OSM.
