Legislator decries removal from IDA

    A Schenectady County legislator is crying foul over his removal from the county Industrial Development Agency, calling it politically motivated.
    The Democrat-controlled Legislature Tuesday night replaced Jim Buhrmaster, R-Glenville, who served on the board for seven years. Buhrmaster is chairman of the Scotia-Glenville Republican Committee and an outspoken critic of Legislature Chairwoman Susan Savage, D-Niskayuna.
    “She wanted to get rid of me because I supported Sen. Farley,” Buhrmaster said. “I spoke out on his behalf when she was being meanspirited on the campaign.”
    Savage ran unsuccessfully against state Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, for the 44th Senate District seat last year.
    Savage denied that Buhrmaster’s removal was political. “All of our boards should be refl ective of the community. All of our boards should not be made up of white men of a particular age,” she said.
    The county Legislature has appointment power over various volunteer boards and committees in the county. None of the terms are fi xed.
    Savage said the county Legislature replaced Buhrmaster and Christine Chiaravalle with Evan Christou and Catherine Gatta. “Jim has served on the IDA for seven years. That is a very long time. The title of the thread is misleading .. "Gentleman Jim" Buhrmaster was removed NOT  "Blowhard Bob" Farley.

Personally, I like Jim Buhrmaster  -- but I also believe that Evan Christou is a great choice for the
board.   I don't know Catherine Gatta -- so I have no opinion of her appointment.

How racist is Sue Savage?!? There are too many "white men of a certain age" on boards?! DV, I would think a statement like that would offend you and all other men who are qualified to serve on boards.

Sue Savage should step down. She is apparently still mad about Farley and she is using her elected position to lash out. Mr. Burmaster has a great civil suit here. Clip the article as evidence.

It was not the best choice of words.  Hardly a reason for Ms. Savage to step down and hardly a reason for
a civil suit.  

Personally, I don't consider myself  "of a certain age" ... I am still a quite youthful, sexy and
Tigerish  40 something.   So I did not take any offense.

Are you kidding me!!  Aren't our elected officials reflective of the community?  This is openly discriminatory.  Has she lost her mind?  Just imagine if this was said about a black man/women or gay man/women.  OMG!!!

Isn't Evan a "white man of a certain age"? I still think this is discriminatory, not simply a poor choice of words. A poor choice of words doesn't include letting a board member go because of his race and age. She needs to go.

i believe that his term on the board was up .. not that he was "let go".  There is an important difference
there.

Savage didn't want Buhrmaster again because he's an older white man. He worked well with the IDA and has a great attendance record in this position. Savage replaced him with another older white man?

She replaces one white man of a particular age-with another white man of a particular age? Makes a lot of sense. Landslide Savage must resign. Time after time she puts partisan politics over the County's best interests. Instead of politicizing yet another board how about citing the County home which has already been bonded?

     Landslide Savage has stepped in it again. First she forces the popular Nick Barber out-now this disgrace. What needs a complete overhaul is the totally flopped Metrograft Authority. Jordan and McCarthy should be replaced by members that reflect a diverse"community". An entire authority of fossils DEM whites. If 7 years of Buhrmaster is too much so is 6 years of ineptitude from "planner" Death Ray Gillen.

Evan Christou will bring a lot of great business experience to the board.   Great choice.

He has a much needed meatloaf recipe for the IDA? Even long time DEMS were stunned at the latest disgrace by Landslide Savage. No common decency. Exchange one old white male for another and call it "diversity". Working together works!

     What needs a total flush is Metrograft not this. It has totally outlived its usefulness and now draining the City and County of needed revenues. She is in complete free fall. Maybe she should buy a copy of How To Win Friends and Influence People? No State lob jobs for either her or the worst Mayor in History-maybe she will take over Real Property Services?-lol

      Wasn't Evan appointed to RIDA, and Buhrmaster was County IDA?

Huh?   Care to tell us WHERE you read that it said Bob Farley was removed???????      You don't have very good reading skills.

So, she takes one white business man and replaces him with another white businessman.  She really made an as out of herself by making that statement.
