If the Niskayuna Grand Union is not feasible-try the Rotterdam Grand Union on Hamburg Street. This would be a win-win. The Y homeless men can revitalize the bus line and partake in the many services at the Rotterdam Senior Center. Enjoying free lunch, bus trips to casinos and occasional cookies. This would greatly increase "foot traffic".
Good point. If there is an extra 185 residents on Hamburg Street, it may justify CDTA to have a route on Hamburg. That is a good working together works solution. They view that as a win win for the people. |

At least we both agree, it should be something that doesn't generate tax revenue.
There aren't too many sites left in town to develop a municipal and community center. Besides -- once we build this new facility --- then the police station, town hall, and senior center could be sold and put back on the tax rolls. |

Who would buy them? Another nonprofit. A business with a tax free PILOT from Death Ray sucking the marrow out of the taxpayers bones. No business person in their right mind will pay these exorbitant taxes and utility costs. Bethesda House can relocate to the old Rotterdam Police Station. New County Home on Curry Rd. But none dare call it implosion. |

CDTA has already knocked the route on Hamburg Street out. Not even the senior apartments could save the route. |

Perhaps the bethesda house or the 'y' residents could move into the old police station or the senior center. The old town hall could be used as a medical clinic for the medicaid recipients. I believe there is already a bus route on curry rd and one on or near princetown road. Put the county home at the old curry rd shopping center too. You are correct, benny..........no one will buy these buildings any way. |

Curry road shopping center underwent remediation and is no longer considered a brownfield. This property is ready for redevelopment. The contamination remaining is no longer and environmental or public health threat.
This site should be the Sr. Center. It's proximity to the Mall and Altamont Avenue shopping areas is perfect. The issue is the firehouse and the egress to Curry Road. It needs to be safe and not like Holly Manor. |

Your senior population is becoming less and less. Boomers are not interested in a senior center. Rotterdam does nothing to support seniors other than offer some trips. Check with Jack Shiely the numbers are reduced from five years ago. Nobody coming up to support that organization. I would think of alternative uses for that property. Senior Center is a waste of the taxpayers money. |

I know the Rotterdam Boys & Girls Club could use some much needed repairs. The entrance looks aweful and the space is crowded. The pool area is way too small. The locker rooms are falling apart. |

We are looking at a multi-generational community center -- to replace the senior center and the boys & girls club. |

My child goes to the B&G Club and its a little crowded at times and could use some serious updating. Looks good from the back but the main entrance is run down. |

There are plenty of empty, abandoned and better spaces for the YMCA residents. With taxes in the City at an all time high, why is anyone even contemplating a new contruction? It's appauling!
The former DSS building is completely empty. Plenty of space and ready for use. Why does the City like to spend money they don't have for projects which are unwarranted.
Well, with the rate the tax increases are going and the decreasing property values in the City, they better make 2,000+ rooms at the YMCA for all the former homeowners. |

Well it appears that the city is also trying to force the senior OUT.....or forcing them on government welfare programs How will they be able to afford to live their on their fixed incomes? |

Your senior population is becoming less and less. Boomers are not interested in a senior center. Senior Center is a waste of the taxpayers money.
So is a new County Home! Any senior should leave this County ASAP. As fast as your feet can take you. Call the real estate office today. Don't wait for prices to fall further because of DEM morons raising every tax and fee. Of course numbers are down-seniors are fleeing for the Carolinas, Florida and lower taxed western States. It's funny to read one nonprofit suggestion after another. Here's what should be on Curry Rd-a new outdoor retail center to replace RSM. A new business plaza with hundreds of new jobs. A new office building complex. Keep taking prime commercial real estate permanently off the tax rolls and expect different results. |

If you think about it, the people that are there for the checks, will move to where they dont have to walk very far or pay for a ride. That would explain why Bellevue is getting run down. If you moved the office to another location, Im sure the same thing will happen there too. |
